  1. Wow you guys eat these? We catch some big one out of Oneida Lake, only problem is the usually have some nasty looking growths on them that always made me toss them back. This one was on the clean side but still not pretty. A fun battle for sure though.
  2. We got out around 2 and fished til 7 marks all over 110-150 fow. Finally hooked up with a personal best lake trout 18lb on green spin doctor with a green iron duke fly on 265 dipsy in 150ft. Gonna try again in the am. He only had one eye but still managed to see that setup! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Over 9 mph... Wow I check weather at the state park in fair haven almost daily and it always seems to be in the 8-10 mph range. The one time I went out in 6 mph and it was still barely fishable out of an 18 footer. I don't know how you ever manage to get out in a kayak lol. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Headed up Thursday to fish through the weekend... looks like the fishing is pretty decent. Hopefully the weather plays along, no fun out there in an 18ft boat when its blowing. Fingers crossed!
  5. Looks like you woke up the TROLLS lol. You're in the for sale section with a WTB ad... seems pretty straight-forward. I knew exactly what he meant from his first post.
  6. Won't drive 20 mins to Fulton for a sale... I guess I wont even bother asking about meeting me halfway. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Yeah it was not a friendly day yesterday either. We went out and gave it an honest effort but didn't even mark a fish. Fished in 120-180 fow marked some bait in 80-100 ft but no fish. Luckily I don't get seasick... Can't say the same for the other guy fishing with me though lol. The rollers were even starting to get to me a little after 6hrs of constant 2-4 footers. Now I see why you guys all have big boats! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Any comments on conditions tomorrow? Weather channel is calling 5-7 NNE for tomorrow... but they also called for 10-12 today and it was blowing easily 15+ this morning. Nothing worse than a 90 min drive just to turn around and go home (like we already did today). Only have an 18 ft Lund.
  9. I was up there at 7am and the inlet coming out of little sodus bay had solid 4-5 footers rolling in. Was too much for my 18ft boat so we put her back on the trailer and will try again tomorrow. Weather looks much better with sub 5mph winds all day long.
  10. Well this is less than encouraging... headed to FH in the am maybe Ill make a run towards sodus and try there.
  11. what do you do to remove them if your fighting a fish? I've seen the "slap" technique but can't imagine doing that while fighting a fish. Also read about people scrapping them off with a plastic knife?
  12. Yup was planning on heading to oswego friday... harborfest pushed me to fair haven.
  13. I actually have a trip planned to camp in the state park in fair haven the last weekend in August. This be a good trip to learn the lay of the land out that way. Appreciate the info guys thanks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. I can do fair haven it's actually only 15 mins further for me than Oswego. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. I'm open to launching from someplace different... I just heard they weren't catching them in Mexico and they were in Oswego.
  16. Appreciate that but I don't need a place to stay Oswego is less than 90 mins from me. Just looking to do a day trip
  17. Lot of firsts planned for this coming Friday... First time to Oswego, first time on Ontario and hopefully catching my first salmon! Think we are going to launch from Wrights Marina but that's as much as I have figured out. Any advice on where to go or what to look for would be much appreciated. 18. Interested in the wire reels if you decide to split up things. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. so a loop knot when attaching fly to flasher but a swivel when attaching a spoon to flasher? What about attaching the flasher to the main line?
  20. Looking to head out for my first time ever this coming weekend, so I have a few rigging/terminal tackle questions. First my flashers all came with snap swivels (one side a ball bearing swivel, the other side a regular swivel). My question is how do I attach these to my main line or leader (whatever the case may be). Seems like a lot of terminal tackle to use a snap swivel on my main line to attach to a snap swivel on the flasher. Same question on the fly/spoon end, should I just tie them to directly to the snap swivel on the flasher? Seems like that would really slow down on lure changes? Also I would definitely use a snap swivel to attach to the spoon right? I'm obviously new to this and could possibly be over thinking it, but if I'm going to do it might as well ask and do it right the first time.
  21. Added that one to my order last night! cant wait to try them out... FYI the rigged pictures convinced me to buy them rigged over un-rigged.
  22. Looking to pick up a few 8" flashers, looking for some pro-trolls or spin doctors perferably.... let me know what you got thanks!
  23. New guy here from NY (just outside of Rome, NY)... long time bass/walleye guy. I run a 18ft alumacraft CS with a 150 Merc, and I'm slightly ashamed to say I live just over an hour from Lake Ontario and have NEVER fished or even been out on the lake before! Been doing a lot of research and hopefully plan on catching my first salmon this year! My port of choice will most likely be Mexico and I joined up to learn everything I can about trolling for salmon!
