I fished this am and they are not to bad in about and hour with 20lb line I had about 6 inches of them on the deepest rigger and almost none on the wire divers and higher rigger. Way way better than the last month or so but not gone. -

Just pick yours days and no boat is to small for big water I have spent a ton of days on big water in boats under 18 foot. That boat can handle any water you can. I would not be worried any day to take it out just it's alot easier and more comfortable on nice days. Small boats just Bob along on top of the waves no danger of your smart just not comfy if it's to bad.. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Problems with my foot propelled trolling motor
bluegiller replied to Yankmycrank's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Mine all I had to do was flip it over and get to it from the side but mine is an older cable steer. On that website it had part break down so you can see where it is and how to get to it. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

I have an older one and it had the same problem it's just a speed control switch. It is like the resister that controls the speed. Just find it on on your model and order a new one. For mine it was like $18 and came out with 2 srews and unplugging 3 wires. I will find the place I ordered mine from and send you the link. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Same as every east wind if it blows more than 5 hours hard it will push ice water inside and the fish will scatter. Some place offshore you will find normal water and some fish. Then the wind goes back to west and about 2 days later the temperature will set back up some where and if we are lucky the fish will follow. I have been fishing out of Oak Orchard since the late 70's and that's one thing that has never changed. Sometimes the temperature comes right back where it was and the fish don't. but if its a 1 day event and as many fish as there has been around my guess is all it will do is mess up fishing for 2 days.

They made a 44, 55, and 88 the sizes are the same as the 3 NK 's. I have a bunch but not willing to part with any. I have some that were made right on the back of boat of the inventor. Good luck finding some. The originals are great.. there are a few lites in the 44 and 55 size out there if you can find those they are the best. They are great I never have them do my work but I get all my parts from them. Have them use the carbon drag washers they sell and you will never need to have them done again. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

The one on east side is fine, the docks float and you can still get on them with out getting wet feet. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I think either would be good. I have been fishing east of oak orchard and the browns and cohos have been really good. And last weekend in that nasty brown mess we skirted the edge of it in 12 to 15 fow and got a boat load and even a nice mature king. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

In my opinion and that's all it is. But i am basing it on how i have seen Lake Ontario change over the 35 plus years i have been fishing it. This lake used to be very nutrients rich and always had some color. A lot of things have changed that. Zebra mussels, restrictions on fertilizers farmers use, new rules on phosphorus, and others have effected this lake. It has slowed the algae blooms, made the water clearer and in turn hurt the plankton and bait fish that feed on it. I don't care what anyone says the clear water is not healthy water for fish life.Ok now to why I think the high water and higher volume of run off is good for the lake. Right off the bat the inshore fishing for browns and cohos has been very good this spring and mostly because the water is not gin clear. Last night i fished and did very well and saw more bait on the beach than i have in the last few years. Fish spit up 2 different year classes of alewife, gobbies, emeralds and even a stickleback. Now to the long term effect all the dirt that is getting washed in from run off and from the wave action on the shore that has been dry for years. In all that dirt has to be some nutrients and I am hoping it will help the plankton, and in turn the bait fish. The DEC is very concerned about the bait fish, the mild winter and this run off might be our savior of our bait fish.

I have been fishing lake Ontario since they put salmon in it. They are not that hard to catch don't over think it. The biggest trick is fishing where the fish are. And as far as learning fast best way is find someone willing to take you a few times to get the basics. Either hire a charter or befriend some one that fishes and can go with you or you can go with a few times. One of the problems is the spring brown trout fishing, summer fishing and fall fishing all are different. Take some time read up some and most of all you can't catch any sitting at the house get the boat in the water and keep trying. Good luck Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
