The bar today

Went out on the bar today & fish from 60 fow to about 230 fow, at about 80 to 100 fow there was so much bait & so many fish it was unbelievable. We had 3 stricks ( no body home) & 1 fish on, it hi6t a spin dr. & a fly. We fish for about 6 to 7 hrs & nobody else was doing anything either. saw a couple fish caught but nothing like it was a week ago.

This time of year the sheephead start to gather before going up the river to spawn. Some of the those hooks may have been schooling sheepies

So what you are saying is that, alot of that bottom action that I saw was maybe sheepshead. I had about 4 or 5 releases from riggers on the bottom that were nothing, sheephead perhaps?

Could be. Could be Kings or Lakers also. Just be aware in May the sheepies school up, so if you are marking a ton of hooks that are not biting properly presented baits, you may be wasting time on trash fish. Better to find the bait and hooks out a little deeper.
