Using sidescan?

Does anyone employ side scan while trolling this lake to help locate fish/bait? I’ve heard of people doing it before but not really sure which range setting I should have the screen set too(if I should say have the bottom within view on the screen or just within 200’ or so)? Any tips or tricks for this would be very helpful. Running garmin transducers with 260khz and 455khz channels for side view

It works great for marking suspended bait. You can expect 200-300' off each side on 455khz.

Any screenshots or pictures of how the bait shows up on a screen?  I’m assuming it kinda just looks like a ball of color but would be appreciated to have a point of reference
