Fishing Cayuga With Son This Week?

I'm new to the board but have been lurking for a while. Had a few questions about open water.

I plan on bringing my 7 year old to Taughannock this week but have not fished it it quite a few years. Has there been any good fishing from shore lately? What should I use? Planning of casting spoons or spinners and drifting jigs or maybe minnows?

Thanks for any insight. He really wants to catch a trout/steelhead. Thought it might be neat to catch a few LL. I may hit Ontario for steelhead instead?

slip bobber with a shiner down 10-15 foot and a half oz red and white bucktail don't let the bucktail go deeper than 20 foot good luck probly see you out there

That is how I have fished there in the past but it has been 10 years since I have been fishing there. Mainly minnows and jigs but sometimes spoons.

I will let you know how I do and maybe I will see you there. I'm in Newark so it depends on the weather for travel.
