running whole bait, we get the head and flashers from http://www.michiganangler.com/

every flasher/head we have purchased has produced. Once the day starts to slow down, we typically run 'em as our deepest off the rigger. Like most people say, it usually doesn't produce the most fish compared to other set ups, but typically the biggest.

My favorite way to run meat is with the 12inch flasher 4 or 5 feet behind a magnum dipsey on wire. HANG ON cause weve caught some monsters on it and its a ton of fun. Make sure your using a good rod/reel/wire because if you get broke off $$$, there goes at least $50 and more importantly the FISH.

John King stuff is awesome.

Big Weenie makes some good rigs too

You can get whole and cut bait online here:

I would suggest starting off with the strips as a beginner, much less of a learning curve. I personally use the Erie Dearie King strips because they fit in the john king and bw meat head best.
