Downrigger Cable-mounting plate-Fish Hawk x4d break out another thousand?

Pulling the trigger on a Fish Hawk x4d. To protect my investment I am going to change my downrigger cable and hardware. Any suggestion on coated or noncoated, what pound test, brands to avoid or buy from? Also whats your thoughts on a transducer mounting plate? Thanks!

I have the same unit for the last 2 years. Just used regular downrigger cable. Haven't had any problems ad it works like a charm. James

Same here. No need to change cable as it sends the signal to the transducer. Works great and refreshes every 30 seconds. Best tip though use the probe on the same side as the transducer for better signal
