Will my Ugly stick work as a lead core rod?

I have the same bait caster and I would not recommend it for either. It is a little too lite. I have been running the Gander Mountain Leadcore rods on my Copper and they are super rods. They come with a 2 year waranty.

We also have copper and leadcore on the gander mountain rods with no complaints. Seem to be plenty heavy enough.

Doubt it will work as a thumper -- for that you need a rod with a fast action the faster the better.

Anything works with leadcore although a 6 footer seems short, I have used 7 footers with some success.

Try it, changing rods is easy.
