new to wire and copper

Recommended Posts

bretter,

Both have there days. Wire is a lot easier to work with. The later it gets into the season, the hotter the wires get. There are days in August that wires take 75% of your hits. You can fish wires divers at any depths with one rig. If you are just getting started with wire, I would suggest getting the Precision Trollers Big Water edition. This book has charts that show how deep your divers will go down with a certain amount of wire out. Coppers are depth specific ie. 300' copper is good for fishing 60 -65' down 400' copper is good for 80 -90' down. You need multiple copper rigs to fish different depths. I would suggest getting 2 wire diver setups and then add a copper rig when you can afford it.
