auto pilot with a four stroke kicker

How does everyone with inboard auto pilot run a kicker motor? Understand the remote steering for the kicker but can you still operate your auto pilot with the main engines off?

Tried to search this forum but not finding anything.

Yes sir, that is correct.

All the autopilot does is to try to keep the bow of the boat aligned with a compass heading. As long as you can steer your kicker engine with your main steering wheel where the autopilot is hooked up to your good to go.
