Clarions

I am looking to get some new reels but don't hear much talk about clarions. Are they discontinued and are they an in between for the Catalina's and convectors.

The Clarions were replaced by the Coldwater series. Next step up is the Catalina.

Clarions still exist but they now only have 2 models 453 and 553. http://www.okumafishing.com/product/view/reels/star-drag-reels/clarion

Both models are non line counter reel and make for great copper reels.

The Coldwater series took over where Clarion left off and have replaced Clarion linecounter reels.

Interesting. Which are better?

They had some initial problems with the cold waters and got a bad name from that. From what I've seen they took care of those issues including repairing replacing all the defective ones. I like the cold waters a lot but still prefer the clarions.
