  1. Rick - That was my first impression as well...... I was almost in disbelief of their action. I immediately pulled out a J-Plug and ran them side by side. I think it has to do with the buoyancy of the lure stemming from the fact that they are made out of wood and not plastic. They handle high speeds well and I have already ordered some large ones to try out musky fishing after seeing how well they triggered salmon hits when nothing else seemed to work. Chad
  2. That is awesome Rick! Congrats on finding some of this big matures I have had good luck on the Lymans this year as well.
  3. Hey Pat - We were out there yesterday with Jason for my bachelor party and ran into a very similar situation. Marked a lot of fish inside but were unable to get any of them to hit. We ultimately ended up moving out to 300 foot and found active fish but no matures. Ended the day 5 for 8 with 4 smaller kings and one nice brown. It was a good time despite the inside bite not wanting to cooperate. Would have LOVED to put a major or two in the boat! Maybe next bachelor party Chad
  4. What a beast! Congrats on the trophy fish!
  5. Sorry to hear of this Richard. You and the family will be in our thoughts.
  6. Zach - 80-120 foot of water, on or near bottom. Good bait and lots of big fish. From Sandy all the way down to Irondequit has been good the last week or so. Not sure what this weekend weather will do to the fishing though. If you get a chance, definitely give it a try this year especially. The class of fish out there now is as big as I have ever seen in my years fishing this lake. You have a chance at a true trophy fish in 2010. Chad
  7. Hey Larry - Can't wait to see some pics of the steelhead and kings you got. I have been out on Ontario the last two days taking advantage of the nice weather and the staging kings. Here are a couple we got: Both fish released unharmed to finish out the remaining few months of their life-cycle. Oct. 2nd will be here soon enough and I will be thinking of you guys as I walk down the isle..... well maybe that statement isn't entirely true but don't think that I wasn't bummed when I found out that date. I am really hoping for some nice weather that day for both our sakes. Two more weeks of salmon fishing for me then I gear up for some fall time musky fishin'. I'm still upset Kate (the future wife) wouldn't let me register at the Happy Hooker baitshop..... she just doesn't understand what our household REALLYYYY needs

  11. Hahah - went out tonight just me and my brother to try out luck. Set up in 70 foot and had warm water top to bottom. Moved out to 200 and found bait/fish and took a small king. Kept working it deeper and did another teenage king, then another skipper, then a good 8-10lb bow. Missed two soon after that and finally hit that laker (14.4 lbs) down 110 over 350. He was mixed in with the bows and kings that we were getting. Ended the day 5 for 7 and pretty happy with the maiden voyage . Might try for some more tomorrow with the future wife..... 36 days and counting.... wish me luck (on the fishing that is )

  13. Would love to know more Rapala Boy. Your the second person that I have heard from stating it is a rare gene in pike.... thanks for shedding more light on this mystery fish.

  15. That was also my first thought Bob when my brother called me on the phone. The fish was definitely a pike however - not a walleye body. At that point I knew it wasn't a Blue Walleye despite that being my first thought as well.
  16. Nice fish Mike! Always good to see a new musky angler have some success - its very addicting! Keep up the good work!
  17. My brother (Todd) and his friend (Zach) went out to try their luck pike fishing out of Braddocks this weekend. They had some success but one fish they caught was really strange. It was something I never seen before, nor my father or uncle. It was a pike that was VERY BLUE in color. The eyes were blue, all the fins were blue, even the mouth itself was blue! The body of the fish also had a blue tint. My brother was releasing all fish caught this day so he took a quick photo of just the mouth of the fish before releasing it back. I wish he would have got more pictures of the body, eyes, fins, etc. Has anyone else ever seen something like this? I talked a little with Rob (Legacy) and he said it is a very rare genetic defect. Just wondering if anyone knew anything else about this and/or if anyone else has ever caught a pike like that. Thanks!
