  1. Guys who make it & guys who use it swear buy it. On the other hand, Flurocarbon makers and users swear buy theirs. Don't know what to tell you other than I use green and/or clear. (but I won't tell you to buy it) Tom B. (LongLine) ps - ie I'm highly skeptical
  2. This is disgusting: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/art ... 00343/1003 I wonder if any legislators are eyeballing easement money hoping where the transmission lines come ashore, like those two up in the islands did. Tom B. (LongLine)
  3. Another reason to not love power companies: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/art ... NTCAROUSEL Iberdrola owns RG&E which owns Russell. They closed the plant a couple years ago. More like abandoned it. 4800 gallons takes a while to drain out so obviously they weren't even watching. Tom B. (LongLine)
  4. Welcome to the site. How's Huron looking this year? Tom B. (LongLine)
  5. Don't worry 'bout the name husky. Now if it was "jerkinghusky" then that'd be a different story. Tom B. LongLine)
  6. Guess it's a dead satellite picture with just silloettes of current ships. oh well, thought we had something there. Tom B. (LongLine)
  7. Here’s an interesting site sponsored by the St Lawrence Seaway. A few clicks & you can bring up a live satellite. http://www.greatlakes-seaway.com/en/nav ... index.html Zoom in on Big-O, then click on “satellite†you can see whatever boats are currently out in the water. Zoom in some more then pan around. I only saw a few fishing boats in the area. (boats zipping around will have a white trail (wake) behind them. Tom B. (LongLine)
  8. ...very explosive....Nuclear lures often mentioned...
  9. It can be a challenge 1st time out with family. Remember what you did and what didn't work for this time of year. I'd suggest if you're only using riggers to make sure there depths are 10-20ft different. Also, unstacked upper rigger lead shorter than deeper one. If you're marking & not catching, drop them both a few feet after 15 min or so. Did you zig-zag or troll straight in or out? Speed can be very important. DWSS & NKs have always worked at faster speeds than SDs for me. Did you run some purple? Good luck Tom B. (LongLine)
  10. Welcome aboard. Don't forget to let us know how you made out. Tom B. (LongLine)
  11. Maybe it's time to get the Attorney General involved.... http://www.democratandchronicle.com/art ... cords-laws Tom B. (LongLine)
  12. Traditional flashers rotate, "modern" flashers swing a large circle, dodgers wobble side to side somewhat like a finely tuned spoon. I'm probably the only guy still using dodgers. You have to experiment to find the best fly/flasher combo. Sometimes best to match them or at least have some similarity between them. Flasher/flys generally run tight to 20 ft back. In general spoons run further back. Depth plays an important part. Deeper you're fishing, closer the spoons can be. Tom B. (LongLine)
  13. Ray - That's one you cook in a dishwasher Males have a black spot outlined in yellow. Females have a yellow spot outlined with black. Tom B. (LongLine) p.s. It's a bowfin...I was raised calling them dogfish...just like I was raised calling alewives - mooneyes.
  14. Post a pic. I got one too. Tom B. (LongLine)
  15. Hey Skipper, he’d of been happier if he’d gotten a ticket. http://www.dec.ny.gov/65.html Hmmm….ALL state laws. Guess they’re empowered to be “super troopers.†Read down the link…â€vehicles producing illegal emissions†could be an environmental reason for being at the speed trap. I've been searching for a total revenue NYSDEC has brought into the state but can't find anything other than the large settlements. How many million did they nail Occidental for...which they put into fishing? Oh well, Tom B. (LongLine)
  16. Welcome to the board. Blue fin, huh? Tom B. (LongLine)
  17. Just saw this - http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/ ... ntoNewHome I hope it's not true. Tom B. (LongLine)
  18. My bad, You're right. Tom B. (LongLine)
  19. Indian - If that's on the inside ie from the floorboards up to the top of the bulkhead, I'd say you'll be fine. For me the inside depth is very important as it gives me something to brace against. Those boats whos side only comes up to the middle of the shin don't belong on Lake Ontario. I'd suggest for any first timers on the lake to first travel upwind then setup and troll at some slight angle to and with the wind until you get used to how the wind will move your boat around. Also, the ride back to port is always smoother going with the wind. Tom B. (LongLine)
  20. Mostly 1 & 2 yr olds off of Russell. Matures have been very spotty this year. (2007 egg collection hurt us bad) If you're running clean spoons try bumping up your down speed a little. 2.5-2.8 Tom B. (LongLine)
  21. rwtms - Ditto what skipper said. mine's 18 ft w/ 75 hp & I've been out a "few" times. (Depth and beam are more important than length for us little guys) If you can handle the boat well, are safety conscious and keep an eye on the weather, you'll be fine. Check out the report sections for places to go. You may want to try a charter before hauling your boat up here, especially as late summer/fall approaches. Tom B. (LongLine)

  23. WTG Joe. I hope you guys have sent him in for the DEC angler award. Tom B. (LongLine)
  24. You better be careful Ray. This site is monitored & it sounds like your "Buffy" adventures are a crime against nature.... Tom B. (LongLine)
