  1. Been pretty quiet from Chaos. He loaded up his boat and took off to Colorado Springs without even giving us a kiss goodby. Read on another board that he made it out there in one piece even though he had to trailer through a snow storm. We are going to miss you Vince. Stay in touch and post every now and then. Don't forget the LOU-All, room on my boat for you.
  2. ...are you insinuating that I may not be telling the truth  ??...or that my posts could possibly be a FISH Story  ?
  3. There really wasn't anyone color that stood out. We ran a mix of naturals & color and most everything took fish. Probably the better producers had some brown/orange on the belly but like I said, most stuff worked. Several triples and it was a mix bag of lures.
  4. Everybody over to Jason's house for "Surf & Turf". I'll bring the venison.
  5. `frisco wanted to play yesterday so we took a day off work and splashed the boat. There were a few other boats out there and all I can say for those guys in open boats.......better you than me. Fishing was still pretty much producing good catches of Brown's & Land Locks. Doesn't take much skill right now, just drag something through the water and you'll catch something. I know some of you think that we'll blow it if we let the secret out but I know you guys won't tell anyone ............right  ................so here is the secret: Plugs & streamers on the surface, no special colors, they hit everything we dragged through the water. A spoon down a few feet also wacked `em pretty good..........be sure to keep this among us. Bumped into Hermit at the launch when we returned. He had a little engine project he was working on so we didn't bother him to much. Hope you got in the water to drag some lures.
  6. .... I'm not trying to start a panic, just passing on some more fish stories. I found this article this morning on the Drudge Report.... http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/01/22/america/fish.php ...Our New York fresh water fish are sounding better and better. If this kind of news keeps up it won't be long before there will be a big market for our fish at local resturants & grocery stores...... ....step aside sport fishermen,...the fish Hogs are coming
  7. No need to up load pictures to another site. Follow these instructions......easy to do. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishin ... .php?t=912 ....Also if your using Big Jon `riggers this my help you out.
  8. Lets see, I 'll try and keep it simple. I use Berkley 12lb Big Game clear for trout & walleye year round for rigger & boards, (plugs, spoons, dodger/flasher ) - (except) when the fleas start. I have extra rods with 20lb Flea Flicker ready to go and just use those setups when needed. 30lb seven strand wire for the dipsey. I do have 2 rods with Tuf-Line XP for dipsey's on Oneida cause max depth there is about 50' and no fleas. Even though the super lines don't stretch, there is a lot of bow in the line when your trying to get down real deep and that is almost the same effect as stretch plus the fleas just love that line .\
  9. Gee Musky,  . Puke, gag, barf. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to forward the link to a few buddies.
  10. to whom it may concern: Superman kicked Billy's a$$ Saturday
  11. .... these units run on propane just to clarify what `frisco is talking about. Also he has it hooked up to an 10 lb propane tank with an extention hose connected but can be used with the 1 lb throw away tank. We have had them in our boats for 5 years now and they are just the ticket. `frisco & I like to hunt and fish. We'll go out in most conditions but we don't like to suffer anymore than necessary.....like fishing in an open boat at 20 deg F and 10 mph winds  . Slider' may think we are weenies but I'm sure most of you will understand were we are coming from.
  12. It's a good thing that you got it fixed. I already had a line a couple other boats to jump on board with.
  13. Great replies.........thanks Rich, JD, Erby' for the links. I'll be checking them out today while at the office  . Besides it's MLK day and things will be quiet. I'm sure Moto as well as I, appreciate the imput. Hope there is more coming.
  14. Moto jump on board. These units are in the $800.00 to $900.00 range. Google up them and check out the specs. They both are the newer digital units. Tought decision without seeing them. I'm sure either one will do the job.
  15. M-B,....I too have made tried this and yes,.....two thumbs up. After reading the ingredients I thought it looked more like a heart attack in a bowl ,....but to many guys posted positive so I made it. I would say if ya want to impress someone with your cooking abilities just wip this on them and claim credit for it...... ...did I just say that?? Sorry . Anyway, after your guests take a few mouthfuls you can give Musky the credit but they probably won't hear you through all the slurping .
  16. Ok...I know this subject has been kicked around but I still haven't made up my mind :? . The two units that I'm considering are the Raymarine DS600x or the Furuno FCV-620. Both are in the same price range and both get great accolades when they are brought up. I'm going to the sportsmen show in Harrisburg in a couple weeks but this stuff just doesn't get any representation at this show  :x . Lorwance is the only company that shows up at the Harrisburg show. How about the Springfield show? These guys at that show? I really would like to see the units live and in person but no one carries either line in the Binghamton area. I guess I'm looking for a vote of confidence from someone that may have seen or used both machines and had an opinion of what one they liked the best & why. Thanks for any input. My boat really needs a nice birthday gift and that is Feb 13th . I have to buy something pretty soon just to get through the winter.
  17. .....ever think about a gift card to Coldwater Creek? I bet it would work at least once. Hay you guys,......I'm just trying to help the kid (Ethan) out. The `ol man has to show the kid how to get around women sooner or later so why not show him a real life experience right now. Next weekend were going to be pushing near 0 deg and the boat will have to stay in the barn.
  18. I'll bet your glad the river was blown out Maniac. Great weather for lake fishing this past weekend. Thought we see more posts though. Guys probably don't want the word to get out  , ....so now you let the cat out of the bag....or was it `frisco? Anyway,.... how are you going to keep your son from bugging you to take him fishing again this coming Saturday.... ........or will it be "hay Ethan, if you skip school Thursday I'll call in sick at work and we'll go pop some more of those salmon  .
  19. ES, I've been watching this topic vary closely because I'm also in the market for a new unit. Looked at this and the similiar Furono last summer but never made the jump. This question you just asked has been exactly the some one that I'd be asking. I had a couple earlier Garmin's that did just that and when I upgraded I just ass u me d my new Garmin unit would do the same,....guess what? Nope :x ! It only 2X & 4X zooms that can be moved up or down the depth range. Not what I'm looking for. I fish the fingers and am over deep water a lot. Like you I want to shoot a picture of say 30' to 120' once I start fishing and that's it. I really don't care what is 175', 225' down,....I don't fish that deep....just lookin' for active fish above & below the target depth. So anyway thanks for getting this started. I guess I'm shopping again I just love spending money on this habit/obsession .
  20. Ran across this in Cabela's website.......... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... hasJS=true .....not sure if it can be retroed on the swim platform, but it could solve your linkage/steering issue. Just a thought.
  21. I really don't know what the two references to tangled lines is for  :?. I was put in charge of the Port side of the boat and all was well over there, but on the other hand the Starboard side had 3 fire drills....not sure who was in charge over there,...the guy eating all the sandwichs or the guy that forgot the Frig-Newtons  . (notice I didn't mention any names, I want to be invited to go fishing again ). Well, needless to say it was a good time. Can't add anything different to the report. Only wish I was out on the lake right now instead of typing this post.
  22. ...I really don't want to let to much info out at this early date but this is a shot of my PORT side planerboard. Working on adding a kite rig in there somewere  ..........hardware off the side and down the shoot is a secret...... ....right `frisco?
  23. :? hummmm, sounds interesting.......... I'm always lookin' for new techniques ,....what ya got?
  24. If you call them and tell them what you need they will sell you any part for any item. I did that for some downrigger parts and they couldn't be more helpful.
  25. Well I thought that the Captain (Huntfrisco) of the boat would post the last fish report in 2007 for his boat, but he said it was my turn to post and if the truth were known he really had a upset stomach from trying to eat all the subs and cookies  , and yes, I did bring 2 packages of Frig Newtons. So with that said I'll post the report for todays fishing while he recovers . Lake level is high for this time of year but we can still get under the bridge at the launch. The bubbler was on so when the weather finally returns back to winter the launch should be open (unless some dimwit cuts it with a prop  ). Today was another banner day for us. Had a great catch of LL's & Browns. There were maybe, 4 other boats and they should have had a good time also. For a couple hours the fish were hitting almost anything that was thrown at them. Most of the fishing we did was around the park and we did go up to the scout camp and wacked a few more. We brought home a few browns & salmon to eat and the rest went back in for some other trip ( hopefully they don't smarten up :? ). I was pleased to see that a lot of those 16"-17" salmon we got this summer are now 18" to 19" now. There should be some great LL fishing in `08. It's about time `cause Lord knows we've been waiting for this for a few years now. For us the season ended with a bang and I hope `08 will continue to produce some excellent fishing. Happy New Year to ALL!
