  1. Going out early in the morning, plan on trolling in close early with boards and the normal stickbaits looking for browns. Has anyone had luck with the browns at sandy recently? Thanks for any help. Doug
  2. ya but i just bought a new one and my number is 729-0354 Doug
  3. Looking to possibly get rid of my boat. It is a 1998 16 foot Starcraft with a 98 shorelander trailer, both are in great shape. The Motor is a 25 horse 2 stroke mercury(runs like a champ). Boat comes with minn kota powerdrive 55 pound thrust with co-pilot(motor is about eight months old), lowrance x-96 sonar unit, bow and stern lights, gas tank, seat cushions, pole holders and a battery. If any one is interested give me a call, i will post pics if anyone is interested too. This boat runs great and is very dependable.
  4. ya, i wish there was a way i could wire my boat so anyone who touches it after i "turn it on" gets a hundred or so volts, that would be nice, then i would leave some tackle in it and lure em in. For real though, i do have a motion light four feet from my motor and it does work, there is also a very strong light just around the corner. They dont care. A couple weeks ago i came out early to leave for a fishing trip and when i came out of my house i heard and then seen someone running from a neighbors house across the street.
  5. Last night i was looking foreward to going out this morning well before first light. I had all my poles setup, tackle ready, battery charged, coffee timmer set and boat hooked up to the van, ready to go. So i get up at 4:45 boat loaded ready to go at 5:00, except for the fact that some Ahole decided it would be a good night to steal my gas tank, a six gallon gas tank. He was in such a hurry that instead of simply removing the hose from the motor, he cut it at the tank and left me the rest of the hose and pump. I guess the goal could have been the motor, it has two bolts through the transom but i am not feeling like thats enough. The scum bags who have to steal to try to get whatever it is that ruins their life amazes me. Doug
  6. i do not have riggers on my boat so at times i have four dipseys out, all with braid and no snubbers, lots of fish this summer with no lost equipment due to fish hits. 30# Fireline with 20# leader early on and 30# now. I lost two dipseys this summer with spoons on them by throwing them overboard thinking they were tied on :x Make sure drag is set good doug
  7. Those were all some great stories, 2007 was great for me too. Learning to fish the niagara in the winter for steelhead was awesome and i cant wait to get back there. Also fishing Western NY tribs was great. I dont consider the fishing season winding down at all, i feel its just getting started. I am also looking to get into some ice fishing finally. Keep the great stories coming. Doug
  8. Headed to the niagara sunday, wondering where the best spot to try for walleye is ? Also does anyone know how the bar is fishing. I would love to get into some salmon to. I am getting married today   and the new wife actually wants to go there, obviously that is a easy decision for me. I have only been to the Niagara in the winter i just want to get on some fish, Thanks for any help. Doug
  9. hey guys, was out this morning and also had same results. All fish came in 200 - 170 FOW 30-40 down. I dont have riggers so #1 dipseys w/no ring on three setting out 110 was the ticket glow frog nk28 . Did two kings one around 20 and a nice 8 pound steelhead and also a brown. It was especially nice because my soon to be wifes family from missouri were with me and got there first taste of salmon , good luck doug
  10. Have to agree with L&M, Though a nice smallie can put up a fight, There is no doubt that walleye are one of the hardest fish to target, at least on lake O (excluding Quinte). The last couple times i have been to Mud bay, or any of the other areas for walleye, i have been skunked. Which makes me hate walleye fishing too. DOUG|
  11. Must of been a great time reeldiel , very nice pics and what a great way to spend part of fathers day. Doug
  12. Just wanted to wish all the fathers a happy fathers day, hopefully we get something to help us out on the water. Enjoy your day. Doug
  13. was out there tonight 5:00-7:30, nothing. Fished from 70 fow out to 150, marked few baitfish schools and not to many fish. I will also be out in the morning, good luck. Doug
  14. If you are shooting carp out of the air with a bow, You know you are a redneck Doug
  15. I have no idea but its a good time for me to say that whatever it is, there was alot on my screen around 90-100 fow just east of sandy. I dont know how often it was popping up on your screen, but it was pretty consistant on my screen at that depth. It wasnt as common at other depths though. If anyone had same findings let me know, thanks. Tom you should get out there and take a little swim down and check it out  Doug
  16. great report Rob, i was there morning 6-2 managed two kings, biggest was about fourteen, also cought about a three pound laker lost one fish too. Only had two dipseys out fish were cought on dirty white boy and money puke. Morning 6-3 got out again and only got one steelie about six pounds all fish were down 30- 50 over 200. Doug
  17. If sheephead are in, you have to put walleye, pike, bass, muskie in also. It is a fun idea, and would be good bragging rights. doug
  18. awesome job guys, way to represent. Doug
  19. Hey walleyeLJ , I use braid exclusivly. I love the sensitivity and there is no stretch. I use fireline 30#for trolling salmon and i cast with 10# fireline or spiderwire. I tie flaurocarbon leaders with bloodknots. Only time i have been using mono is when its to cold to use braid because it freezes worse. I hate the memory and twist of mono, braid has no twist or memory, at least the 10#. During the late fall and winter i bought 8# P-line and was not happy at all with it, only time i will use that is at the niagara with a 1 ounce weight at the end of it. I dont have a wire setup yet, and i dont do the open water summer trolling like these guys on the board, so they could help you a little more. I am interested in more opinons Just my 2 cents, good luck this season Doug
  20. Planning on going fishing saturday, just not sure where? was wondering if anyone knows if they are hitting in the lower river. Any info is great. Thanks Doug
  21. Looking  for planer board reels, Thanks. Doug
  22. Hey bandit, got out there this morning too, did one brown, nice smallie and a big perch, after trolling for a hour or so i got sick of trying to control my little boat out in the lake so i went and casted the yacht club and lost what i think was a walleye at the boat, has anyone ever cought a walleye at sandy? Im 95% sure it was a walleye, stayed on the bottom till the boat and i didnt get the best look at it but im sure it wasnt a pike, if it was a bass it was the biggest bass i ever saw. If anyone has ever cought a walleye in sandy let me know. Thanks Doug
