  1. You picked a good Capt. to go fishing with. He'll put you on to some fish and make the trip a memorable one for you and your son I'm sure. Welcome to the site and Good Luck on the water.
  2. Well, I goofed. I was messing around & editing my site and somehow lost the banner link to L.O.U. on my site. Can you post it again so I can get the hot link banner back on my site again. Oh Jeepers!!! Nevermind, I took the pledge again this morning and downloaded all of them in case I screw up again.
  3. Dan, I run the board approx. 50-60' from each side of the boat, depending on traffic, I will run longer. The idea of the mast is to keep the planer line up high out of the water so you can attach your fishing line to it and it will slide down the planer line to whatever distance from the board you want it. The planer line MUST be kept out of the water so the boards run to the sides instead of in back of the boat. Try to keep the mast or whatever as far to the front of the boat as possible. I let out my fishing line anywhere from 40-120' back, then I use shower hooks and rubber bands to attach my fishing line to the planer line. The shower hooks will then slide down the planer line. When the fish hits, the rubber band will break and it's FISH ON (hopefully) Hope this helps. PS: If you don't want to fart around with this, you can always use inline boards.
  4. Good job. No skunk on that boat. Nice rig & nice catch.
  5. Hah! I think he's just getting too big for dear ol dad to muscle around to grab the rods anymore. It's good to see you two still on the water together. That's great.
  6. Atta way to go Al. Glad to see you got on the water. Good luck fishing this year. Still got your boy holding the fish so they look bigger I see. :)
  7. That's a beauty of a rig. Nice to get the skunk out on the first trip.
  8. Great pics Ray. Nice catch to start the season off. How bout a recipe or two in the recipe section to let us know how you cook 'em up? I was gonna wish you good luck on the water this year but it doesn't look like you need the luck, you got the skill.
  9. Andre, Oswego is good for small boat fishing. If the wind is too much for the boat you can always fish in the harbor and catch some nice browns along shore and the breakwalls. Fishing East of the breakwalls is somewhat protected too in a West wind. Wright's landing in Oswego is atop notch launch. Good luck on the water.
  10. There's a cottage for rent in the "selling" section. Good luck
  11. Wright's Landing in Oswego is excellent. If you're coming into Oswego on Rt 104 when you get in Oswego and cross the bridge, take a right at the first light, go to the end of the street, take a left, and the launch is 2 blocks on the right. Nice big parking lot & great launch.
  12. They are a heck of a nice reel. I've got two of the CV30DLX & use them on my riggers.
  13. A lot of guys swear by the black dipseys. I'm pretty sure clear snubbers can still be bought online at Opti tackle.
  14. It was beautiful out on the lake all day. After 4 o'clock it got pretty cool so we turned on Mr. Heater and toughed it out till 8:30. Good luck on Seneca.
  15. I heard that :!:  Atta way to go with the browns & coho Ray.
  16. Actually, my first hit of the day was when I was going to my first spot. I had just rounded the breakwall and set up, & got antsy and wanted to get closer to shore so I upped the speed to 4.6 on the gps when I got the hit. I had 140' of line out and got him right next to the boat when it rolled and spit the hook. We saw it and it was bigger than the one I'm holding in the pic. We couldn't believe it hit going that fast. It was a fluke & we spent the whole day going 2.7 to 3.2 in different spots. I'm glad I had Mr. Heater with us after 4pm, it started getting pretty cool out there. I didn't know that was you in the Lund or I would have come over to say hi. I was on 68 and had a chance to talk to baytech05 out there. He was doing better than us at the time so I don't have any idea how he ended up. I didn't care if I got a dang thing out there. It felt so good to be out after the winter. All is well now. Atta way to go Mick. Edit PS: The guys on the dock said they nailed them in 6-8 fow. Anybody have any idea what the wind speed was for yesterday afternoon?
  17. First trip of the season to work the bugs out of the boat and the kinks out of the bones. Dennis Smith my buddy got 3 browns and I only got 1. We ended the day 4 for 8. Trolled the shallows with stickbaits and couldn't get much to fire so we switched to spoons in 12-15 fow. Action for us was pretty slow but we spoke to guys at the dock who said they hammered them. We must have been in the wrong place at the right time to get our 4. We did have some others on, but murphy's law prevailed. All in all it was great to get out on the water. Spring has sprung.
  18. Sounds good baytech05, I'll be in the little Starcraft with blue bimini top. Look for two fat guys that look like two bullfrogs in a teacup. I'll be on 68. Probably have our limit by 10
  19. Thanks for the quick response Dave. Much appreciated. I'll make sure my cousin from VA is registered. Or else..... Im sorry, I forgot to thank waterlogged for sending the email. Thanks
