    Erie- Wd's?

Thanks Ray! Haven't heard from you....you been down this way at all?
  2. Jakey: September really becomes weather dependent out of Dunkirk in the fall. About 3 season ago, we had pretty good walleye right up until we pulled the boat in early October. Other years (last year) it's died quick once you cross Labor Day. Most of the captain's here pretty much don't take trips much beyond September 15. If you want to consider it, feel free to shoot me an email a few days ahead of the date you might be coming and I'll let you know how its been. John

    Erie- Wd's?

WD's are the smallest size spoon from Dreamweaver. They are comparable to the scorpions from Stinger, size wise.

    ERIE

Fished the 3 day con club tournament. We had fish from just west of Dunkirk to 4-5 miles east. 70-80 fow. Lots of good screens. 10 color no weight was fair; slide divers at 140-165 with a ring with chattersticks; and WD's off the 50-65 rigs. John
  5. My bad for not posting more. Seems as though July and now August is flying by..... Anyway....Dunkirk report.... Most of the guys that I know have been fishing west of Van Buren for the last few weeks. Anywhere from 55-90 fow has been good, depending on the day and what you fish. Ten Color has been good with either copper backed harnesses, or the 5" chatterstick I like on there. Slides at 135-150 with a ring on 2; riggers set at 55 ft. Fish have been deep lately. I prefer to go without worms, if possible, so for us the 3" perch chatters have been good, and WD spoons off the rigs. From the worm guys, I hear copper/orange has been the best. We've got the 3 day Con Club tournament this weekend (100 boats) so I should be able to update the information either here, or via my blog at www.timestwocharters.com. Good fishing! John
  6. Years ago I had an 18' starcraft cc. Very wet and cold boat, but I didn't have all the enclosures. Have a 23' Seaswirl walkaround now, love it! Still can walkaround to dock, anchor, etc, but have the hard top/vinyl enclosure. John
  7. I think we need a nice SW blow (maybe this weekend from the looks of it) then some nice weather. She'll come around...just a couple weeks off.... I hear Conneaut and west of Erie has been coming on.....
  8. Cold water remains the norm on the inside, and consequently fishing remains slow. Heard last Thursday/Friday was ok, but Saturday thru today was tough. We had 2 on Saturday inside 65 fow; 4 on Tuesday in 70-75 fow. Chattersticks in red or black/silver on 5 color or 30 jets has been the best. I agree with Jimski on another post...we're a couple weeks behind on the water. Fish are there but not active. Give it 2 weeks! John
  9. Fast and Silver... I'd have to wonder about the integrity of the knot first. I've run PP 30lb braid on L. Erie for the last 4 seasons. I have had 1 break off, and that was due to an apparent cut in the line, as it was in the middle of over 150 feet of line out. John
  10. Happy Birthday YT! Hope it was a good one. John
  11. Fish were right tight to the bottom. Tried and caught very few using floats. The other interesting part is that a majority of the fish we kept had bellies FULL of small zebra mussels.
  12. Have spent many late August nights at the BNI! Can't wait to see the gang, and the improvements!
  13. We're pushing the "chocolate" water to you guys from Lake Erie. Water out my window in Dunkirk is all brown from all this rain! John
  14. I live right on the lake at Dunkirk. Other than the harbor, no visible open water. I feel like I moved to Siberia lately. John
  15. I have Charter Lakes and have been happy with them. John
  16. We changed over to Black's from a pinch pad style 5-6 seasons ago now. Absolutely LOVE THEM! Great for walleye on Erie or salmon on Ontario! I have no experience with the chamberlains. John
  17. Sale is pending on these. Thanks! For sale: 2 combo's - Okuma 30D Linecounters with 10' Okuma Blue Diamond Dipsey rods model BD-C-1002MH-1 with twili tips. Rods/reels were purchased new in the spring of 2009, used on and off during 2009 for walleye; not used last season. Reels are spooled with 30Lb 7 strand wire. Originally had 1000' of wire on each, probably somewhere around 950' each now. Selling these because I changed over to Power Pro and found that it worked just as well for me and was more forgiving with the clients. Asking $200.00 for the pair, excellent condition. If the prospective buyer wants to save on shipping, I can hold and bring to the LOTSA show in February. John
  18. My son is an avid perch fisherman. Considering Lake Simcoe for a little bit of bonding with him. Never done that....any recommendations? Would I need my own equipment? John
  19. YodaMage: I understand your parameters...but would also say Billy V's looks like a great rig. As far as Happy Days Boating...if you decide to check them out, call and ask for Jim Burroughs. When I was looking for my Seaswirl a couple of years ago, I talked to him in the fall, told him what I wanted in general terms, and he assurred me he'd get back to me "in time". I figured it was the usual lip service, but lo and behold, a few months goes by, and I get one of those "Have I got the boat for you...." I was on the road to Port Clinton the next day, and we got the deal done. Also had an issue during motor break-in time, and they bent over backwards to help. Drawback is the long ride from Dunkirk, but it was worth it. They do have a used 26' Seaswirl on their used boat list currently. John
  20. Thanks KGone. Can you tell me where they are located? Billy V...thanks...you're shirts look really nice....thanks for the info. I'll give him a call. Man....I love this site! Lots of great help. John
  21. Thanks George. I'll give her a call. John
  22. I used a guy the last few years from the Buffalo area for my silkscreen and embroidery work. Admittedly, I don't order a ton, but he did a great job for me, and had no problem doing the smaller size orders in between his bigger orders. I even had posted earlier this year on here for anyone that had been looking for someone to do that kind of stuff. Well, wouldn't you know it, he has just sold his business to take a different job. Good for him, but bad for me The company that he sold to in Buffalo does not do orders of under 48 for silkscreen and 12 for embroidery, so once again, I am looking for a company that will. Does anyone have any recommendations? John
  23. Thanks Chris. I believe I have found one. If that turns out to not be the case, then I'm probably going to move towards a new unit in the spring (after Jan 1!) CPA said I can't spend anymore this year ! John
  24. Stevietangles: That would be awesome of you! Looking for the Lake Erie one if you have that, which I am told is NE/649L. Let me know, no rush....looking towards next season! John
