Fished the south end of Irondequoit bay in 25 fow i front of the R&G club. the action wasnt hot and heavy but rather a slow pick for most of the morning. ScottB and I managed about 40 keepers w/ the same number of throwbacks. tipdowns w/ fatheads and niagaras took the majority of the fish but ScottB took a few jigging too. plenty of ice out there (5+") and plenty of guys fishing it too.

this is what i have and i think it was money well spent. http://www.clamcorp.com/fishtrap_guide.html i bought it to be a comfortable 1 man tent. its easy to pull, plenty of room for all your gear, and it has 2 seats for you. it has alot of assessories that you can buy for it too.

slow fishing. the guys with me concentrated their efforts on pike and didnt have a flag. i spent the day chasing perch with very little luck. had a half dozen keepers amongst the couple dozen dinks. niagaras on the tip-downs and jigging rods with the same caught the fish. everyone who stopped to chat said its been a slow week there and they really had to work hard for what they kept. it can only get better there, i cant imagine anything much worse.

i believe oil prices fell to a low of about $35/ barrel. when that happened OPEC cut production by about 2 million barrels a day (to "level" out pricing). now the price per barrel is holding right around $50. http://www.oil-price.net/

with light line your gonna have problems with line twist. try 8# test and see if it helps.

cant believe the water is still that murky? im itching to get out and put a whuppin' on some perch but its seems like i havent missed much. i drove by on saturday at midday and it was quite busy.

i run 9'6" daiwa heartland dipsey rods. okuma blue diamond rods might be another choice.

im not a fan of the "add a line" but you can use toothpicks to pin the "add a line" to make it a fixed slider. i would suggest using either the roemer liberators or the rubber band method. with either you actually deploy the rigger then attach the cheater. liberator method- attach main line to downrigger release and deploy 5-15' (or whatever your separation distance is). take your completely rigged cheater line ( 6-8' leader w/ swivels on both ends w/ your spoon and liberator attached) slide line into liberator, close line clamp and keeper ring. throw spoon overboard and make sure line is running true. lower rigger to desired depth. rubber band method-attach main line to downrigger release and deploy 5-15' (or whatever your separation distance is). take your completely rigged cheater line ( 6-8' leader w/ swivels on both ends w/ your spoon). half hitch a rubberband to your mainline then attach your swivel to the mainline and to the loop in the rubberband. throw spoon overboard and make sure line is running true. lower rigger to desired depth.

ive had success with alot of different combos. i like to fish kevorkians mupped ,high in the water column (top 40') . i also love to fish stinger nbks on a deeper rigger, lets say 50-80' mupped. both were great producers last year.

http://www.gimp.org/ heres a link to a good but advanced picture editing site. it requires a download of the free software. it may take some time to master but it does just about everything you need it too (resizing, borders, effects, etc). moderators sticky?

if i bought them then i would have to buy the matching downriggers to go with them.
