  5. well last saturdays shakedown cruise produced 1 steelie and riddled with minor boat problems. this week, the mechanic came out and got the "bugs out" and everything seems great. (i hate shakedown cruises). headed out sunday morning with great weather and a glassy pond. searched for any colored water inside and it was no where to be found. saturdays wind took care of that. gave up quickly on the inside water ,gin clear. pretty steady 41.5-43.5 temps from inside waters out to 100'+. fairly good screen in 40-60' no takers. dumped 1 fish on the boards. ugly fishing conditions out there. we definetely need some rain to bring some color back.
  6. yeah it definetely sucks. sandy creek surface temperature was 64.7 degrees and 3' down 62.8 degrees. the truck ,direct stock them at the public boat launch (15000? steelhead). im curious to know how other pen rearing sites are doing with temps

  13. billy i think its time to move closer to the lake. fortunately i live less than a mile the lake and less than a mile from where my boat is docked. my boat has a 112 galon tank, which hurts at the pump, but gets great mileage trolling. unfortunately because im selfemployed i average about 35000 miles a year on my silverado (what a nice gas bill that is anually). with absolutely no relief in sight for fuel costs either. basically fuel bills suck and costs of doing business is directly affected. small business and middle income america suffer for it too.
  14. hey problemchild, welcome to the site
  15. dont beat yourself up, somedays no matter how hard you fish, it might only produce a couple of fish. when fish are spooky or inactive (in the shallows) i typically lower my speed, lengthen my leads, widen my spread, and downsize my baits.
  16. thanks again for the ride yankee (the right place at the right time). thats what spring fishing is all about, kings off the boards in april. to think we argued about who was gonna reel the brown in.
