  1. hey times two, damn, i just realized my 5 year old has 3.
  2. i typically use about an 8' leader between the dipsey and the spoon or flasher. it seems to be a very comfortable length and doesnt interfere with netting (on my boat).
  3. .......and dont forget the ice fishing gear too
  4. wow even jay makes a appearance
  5. im always in for a boat load of donated money.
  6. ditto what mark said.usually mid july is time for me and love running them off the leadcore.
  7. question for you guys that didnt like fleaflicker....did you try 20# or 30#? doublehaul, my suggestion for you is buy a spool of 20# fleaflicker, spool up only a couple of rods, and try it. just like everything else either you love it or you hate it. i made the switch about 3+ years ago and havent looked back. im not a big fan of the 30# fleaflicker. i actually purchased a spool of 30# first before trying 20#. 30# seems bulky and spools funny on the reel. im not sure about the line twist that billyv experienced but it has only happened when the swivel has gotten junked up for me. you cant get too fancy with knots so as long as you stick with a palomar to your swivel then youll be fine. and too answer your question what ever that means the answer is no.
  8. thanks paul for helping sandy get approved for the tournys. well do our best to help promote.
  9. do you have dates for august and sept yet? i assume fish can be caught at other ports?
  10. i use my stern light for charging lures. its a pretty intense light and it charges them up pretty good.
  11. spent the morning working 150-170 fow west of the creek. real good screen 40-60' down ,which was way out of temp, with good hooks and some bait. first fish of the day came on the 10 color leadcore w/ redheaded silverbullet , nice aerial steelie about 8#. we continued to work the same area (in circles) for the next couple of ours and boated a few more. we lost a screamer who took about 3/4 of the spool, in 1 run, off a downrigger rod before snapping off. needless to say, that sucked, he was a big guy. about 800 the fishing turned off till about 930 when it picked up again. ended the day 11 for 13 w/ 2 steelies and the rest were kings. kings 15-24# and the steelies 8-10#. it was nice to fight some quality fish in numbers finally. leadcore and jpug took 1 fish and green on white sd and fly 150' out went four times. the rest of the fish came on a mix of spoons off the riggers 35-77' down- stinger nbk, green glow nk, irish car bomb, super spook, chart/ purple nk
  12. is there a loc summer derby ceremony?
  13. IA bowhunter, i hate to burst your bubble but by the looks of things, what you have is a big king. the black mouth and gum line give it away. a steelheads mouth and gum line are white. all in all a nice fish.
  14. i tend to search out the coldest water also. i like to find that 39 degree water and setup from there.
  15. (thats too funny)i would suggest reeling as fast as you can and make up that slack line.
  16. so i decided to go with berts rod holders on the boat. it seemed noone had anything bad to say about them and i heard nothing but positive things about them.i ordered them from http://www.buyfishingstuff.com/berts.html. let me say if you guys need berts stuff this is the place to buy it. 3 days i had my order and the price is the best ive found. unfortunately ive only been able to use them once since i installed them
  17. sounds like i missed a good day guys. i was trapped on cayuga without a boat. yankee, i think everyone at some point loses something to the bridge. maybe its a gift for the fish gods or just plain stupity but everyone pays eventually.
  18. i would suggest looking at the results of your poll and i hope it answers your question.
  19. your downspeed is what it is believe it. your gps and your downspeed will be different at most times but thats why we have down speed units to make the corrections to our speed. there is a point that extreme blow back causes your subtroll to start loosing speed (due to the cable angle). but it can be resolved by slowing down and allowing the subtroll to "catch up". i also own a subtroll and have found that my temp reads slower than other units (my guess is 1/2 mph slower). what you need to do is match speeds with someone. mimic trolling direction and gps speed, and then look at your downspeed and compare. you may find 2 different answers.
  20. safe to assume king fishing? 2- downriggers (1 with a cheater 10-15' above the ball and the other deep w/ a free slider) and 2 wire dipsey rods. 4 rods but with 6 lures covering alot of water.
  21. bananas nothing changes your luck like bananas.
