  1. just tie an overhand knot in your fly leader, push the loop through the swivel hole on the spin doctor, put the fly through the loop, and pull tight
  2. sundays thunderstorm here in hamlin was probably the most intense thunderstorm ive been in. there was actually a point were it stop raining completely and hailed for about 5 mins straight. we had 1+" of accumulation and temperatures dropped to under 60 degrees. lots of damaged trees and crops. incredible storm.

  4. billy, just another reason to have rick fight the fish on copper.
  5. rich, i typically just run an 8' leader between dipsey and the spoon. alot of the time its usally a spoon that has been firing on the riggers and usually higher in the water column.
  6. short trip for us today. ended the day 1 for 6 (steelie). purple thunder 28, 180' on the wire. beautiful screen 80-100 fow just couldnt get them to go (but from what ive heard its been a decient evening spot). spent the next couple of hours on a NE troll to 360 fow. 4 of the fish came between 200-300'. including a double. purple seemed to bring in the most attention. lots of warm water and pretty uniform temp still. bumpy(well considering how its been lately) and lots of current out past 170'.
  7. short trip this morning, Left the dock @ 5 And returned @ 10. Didnt see alot of boats out today (maybe 5 or so) and the radio was quiet also. after spending an hour or so in search mode, we fished a screen in 225 fow. (64 degree surface and 51 degrees down 99') pulled fished between 35' down and 99' down. hot spoon bite off the riggers and the wire but couldnt get bubba to fire. 45-55' down was the hot spot. nbk, icb, mixed veggie, no name purple mag all took fish. ended the day 8 for 14 steelie and kings w/ big fish of the day an 18# king. hoping to get back on sunday but well see what the weekend brings.
  8. sounds like we need to flip a coin to get an answer around here. i use snubbers and in my eyes theyre just an insurance policy. i also crank my drags down and adjust the drag after the fish is on.
  9. you wait your whole life for a chance to boat a walleye....just one walleye....then you get your chance.....you jump up and down at the first site of it.....and then you get it in the boat and you scream like a girl...... then in disbelieve you spend the next 5 minutes discussing (with yourself outloud), how you caught it and you cant believe that you finally caught one....and then you dont even smile for the pick.
  10. thanks guys, the family really had fun. hey tank, i tried calling you when i got setup but you must not of had your radio on.
  11. A miracle happened......i managed to get the family out on the boat this evening to do a couple of hours of boating (which in my eyes actually means fishing). motored out to 200 fow and setup on a north troll. drop the probe rigger down first and it fires before i even grab the next rod. 65' down nbk stinger next rod to fire leadcore 9 colors w/ irish car bomb everyone on the boat took a turn fighting it till they got tired my 5 year VS. a rainbow + 9 colors? the last 25 min my son boated 3 little guys ended tonights trip 5 for 6. absolutely a perfect night for the family.
  12. im looking to install triple rod holders (adjustable) on the boat. a set for either side of the boat. any suggestions, links, recommendations, etc. would be great, thanks.
  13. gene, ive heard mixed reports of guys in real tight out to 450'. the fish are scattered, so when you do find them dont leave them.
  14. I havent been out fishing since the orleans county proam and it felt nice to be back on the water. lake this morning had a slight ripple to it with almost no wind and sunny skies. headed north, in search mode, stopping to look at 100 fow. for the most part an empty screen. continued north to 200 fow and the screen activity increased so i decided to setup there and troll north. in 250 fow we dumped a arial steelie, followed by another one in about 275 fow, and another in about 315 fow. not the greatest start but we finished up 6 for 9 w/ 2 small kings and the rest steelies. (including a couple just over 10#) spent the majority of the day on a n/s troll between 250-300 fow. nothing fast and furious just a slow pick form 5:30 till about 9:30. irish car bomb, nbk, git-r-done all took fish. 1 fish off leadcore 7 colors. the rest was a rigger/ spoon bite 30 -77' down. down temp was pretty warm and consistent (53 degrees down 100') the screen was busy (lots of deep bait w/ lots of fish in the top 90').

  20. jeremy, theres a ton of posts on this subject if you find the time to scroll through them. seems to be alot of fishhawks in use but in my opinion new sales seem to be between subtroll and depth raider. personally i own a subtroll and have been very pleased with it.
  21. scott, casting sticks works great especially on wautoma and swimming bucktails too.
  22. erabbit, just to load you up with even more info and to add to billyv........ the past few weeks ive ben playing with leader lengths and spinny setting. the friday "practice fishing day" during the niagara proam we did 8 kings on the wire dipsey rod on an nbk spin doctor (#sd70925) on the opposite holes from factory w/ 19" fly leader. on saturday i couldnt catch a fish on it and the hot setup became spin doctor (#sd70905) on the opposite holes w/ 22" fly leader. truth is you never know what the fish want, so dont be afraid to switch it up. 3 different guys 3 different answers.
