The fuel efficient fuel injected engines seem to have a lot of problems when your gasoline goes bad and sometimes need replacement of pumps and injectors. The old carburators will be drained and are good to go. The financial savings may be fraudulent with fuel injection.

Ftne, only problem was the neutral start switch. I had to use thr pull cord until it was replaced.

Ten years ago, I wanted to replace my 2 stroke 90 hp Evinrude but I bought a 4 stroke Honda with trim and tilt for trolling.. The old Evinrude is still running.

There are different charging voltages for those different batteries, but they work. The battery switch must be checked to see if it has a alternator disconect switch inside it as you can blow your diodes on the boats alternator if you switch the batterys when the engine is running. They make different types of battery switches so be careful. Starting your engine on the deep cycle side only can harm that battery also.

This will never happen in New York because all the slow moving obstructionist we have here will delay things till the price of gas is so low it will not be profitable any more. Sorry, but that is the way it is here where we have too many government employees. West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio will end up with the drilling jobs and profits. Drive down 104 and count the closed down businesses and empty houses. Next year there will be more.

There are too many perch since the Muskys were not stocked due to the VHS scare stuff. These perch gobble up everything but their growth rate is slow compared to Lake Erie. A 5 year old perch is 9 inches compared to 12 inches in Lake Erie. The "catch and release" guys and small fish throwbacks do not help. The biggest problem is the majority of us do not really know how to clean them or even cook them.

A 50/50 mixture of Clorox and water does wonders on removing black mold from white canvas, colored canvas I do not know. The Amish guy down in Leon, New York resewed my neighbors five year old top and dyed and waterproofed it. Looks good as new almost.

Yes, they are putting up 5 more new ones on the slag piles of the old Steel Plant. As a youth we fished from shore there and caught a lot of fish. This is too bad for the public as access to the area will be denied probably by the Homeland Security Outfit. There is several miles of lakefront property that could be available for public use, but now they are going to be locked out for another generation.

Well we went back out this AM since the weather was still wonderful. In the neighbor's boat out to 40/10, my first line down had a triple header on as soon as it hit the bottom. That meant things could not get better and so it was. After an hour we went north to 42/10, 71 foot and found three boats pulling in fish. We dropped the hook nearby and ended up with 40 and came in for the kickoff at 12:15 PM. 65 boats out there today, you would think there was a tournament going on. What a beautiful day and a beautiful week for perching.

After losing 48 nightcrawlers and landing ten perch a few weeks back while trolling worm harnesses in 70 foot of water off Point Breeze, we started looking for perch out there in the deep waters. Well they are out there, 50 years I have looked for good summer perch and never imagined they would be available as the "best fishing in my lifetime". When you get over them they are on your line as soon as it hits the bottom. Live minnows or even frozen salted minnows work well. I put plastic Gulp minnows on one line and nothing happened. A good color graph like a hds5 Lowrance finds them. Otherwise look for boats hauling them in over the gunwale. When the screen on ten foot bottom lock shows green and mainly yellow, they are there. Lately there are groups of 30 to 40 boats, seven and a half miles offshore. Yesterday they were in the 42/10 quadrant but as the day went on they moved around. For three days this week with two of us in the boat, we brought in 215 perch and after cleaning them I should if I am smart be done till next spring. The frozen salted minnows are easier to rebait your line.

100 perch for two guys yeaterday in four hours. The algae is the fodder for all the forage in Lake Erie. That is why the smallest lake contains more fish than all the other Great Lakes. If you want to fish a blue water, crystal clear lake, you will not catch many fish. This is not a problem, years ago the whole lake was green, the moss on the beach was six foot solid in the summer. now some newspaper guy is trying to make an issue out of this and we will all suffer, from farmers, fishermen, consumers and taxpayers. Even Lake Ontario benefits with all the forage fish around the Niagara Bar. I hope this does not get out of hand.

I use a large sheet of paper, put it down, mark it with a marker pen. Cut the marked area out with scissors and use the pattern to cut the wood and carpet also.

That is what my dealer is telling me to do. He has to deal with problems you can not imagine every day and his experience is worth listening to.

There are plenty of walleye on the screens here in New York. The problem is getting them over the gunwales. Maybe too much feed down there. But the perch fishing especially in deep waters has been the finest in my lifetime. When you get over the schools out in 60 to 70 foot of water, the perch are on as soon as your minnows hit the bottom. Double headers of 12 inch perch are common, boxing out with 50 big perch per fisherman is common. The perch are there as were the blue pike in the 1950's.

The commercial pen raised salmon fisherys are doing well in Norway, Chile and British Columbia are doing well supplying salmon to the world's markets. Take a look in Wegman's fish counters. It could be the private concerns do something well and government agencies can not do as well.

We removed the fuel level fixture and inserted a hose with a squeeze bulb from an outboard motor and a gas filter in the line. Slowly we filled gasoline cans and when the gasoline was mostly gone, we used a coat hanger wire with a rag to clean out the tank. A lot of water, dirt and mold came out with the rag. We ran the hose out the drain plug opening with the boat on a trailer. The dealers repair guys charge you about 5 bucks a gallon to dispose of the dirty fuel. After this we poured off the gasoline from the cans to make sure there was no water, added Blue Stabil and ran the gasoline into my truck. A good dealersaid to use 89 octane now as it is better for your motor. Be careful as this is dangerous.

As our woodlands were changed to farming and housing, the water temperatures in our streams have risen to the point that natural reproduction of Atlantic Salmon failed. Dams and industries did not help either. Anyway they are native fish and can survive in the lake with help. It really is nice to catch a salmon that leaps out of the water and it makes the fishing experience more enjoyable to handle one of these guys.

Do not plan on a trip this weekend and double up your mooring lines.
