CRW, My first Lake O boat was a 19 foot Islander and it handled the Lake Great... Even in 4 to 6 footers the boat handled the Conditions with no Issues.. The issues were people losing there lunch out in those waves.... I wish I never Sold that boat, by far my favorite boat and a fish catching machine if you set it up right.... Woody

Hughes 7/6/12 Evening
woody 184 replied to woody 184's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Kev I wired up a new Bilge pump and took the old one out and I noticed that the boat had 2 bilge pumps and both did not work.. I tested the new pump in the garage and hit the water.. After about 20 minutes I had considerable water coming in the back of the boat.. after getting down in there trying to fix the situation noticed that the one bilge pump was not a bilge pump..It was an Aerator so its plumbed solid through the back of the boat and I took the discharge hose off the aerator and put it on the new bilge.... So water just poured in the boat....... The positive out of all of this is the new Bilge works Great.... Ive never owned a boat with a Aerator..... Now I know......... -

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Mud Chicken ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: 3 1/2 hours Weather/Temp:HOT Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 3 footers... NOAA called for <1..... Thanks NOAA Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 10 Total Boated:6 Species Breakdown:Everything except a Coho or an Atlantic Hot Lure: NK Black Mag with Purple Stripe Trolling Speed: 2.5 to 3.0 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 100 Lure Depth: 88 to 95 =================== I hit the water with a friend of mine and my daughter out of Hughes.. First rod was in the water by 400pm. Port Rigger fired with a Screamer down 88 over 90 with a black NK Mag with purple stripe.. Boated a 21lb King... friend of mines biggest fish.... We had to deal with a minor issue of the boat almost sinking.. Fixed that after 30 minutes of Macgyvering it up... Back fishing multiple rips on the Black NK Mag with purple Stripe had that on both riggers.. next was same rigger same lure over 98fow and boated a nice Steelie 9lbs. Released that to fight again.. Then port Wire rod out 280 went towing black with green dot Spin Doc with Attomik Songin Fly...(I like that Fly.... Sweet fly) Boated a nice 14lb Laker.... Got rerigged then same port rigger fired with same lure 88 down over 105fow.. Boated a nice 3 to 4lb brown... Then the Starboard wire out 260 went with Yellow NBK Spin doc with Attomik Mirage fly.. Boated a nice 12lb laker... Lost a Screamer on the Port side wire out 280 newbie on the rod and gave to much slack.. That had the same setup never changed lures... Didnt need to fish were whacking everything.. The Screen looked awesome last night.. We were loaded back on the Trailer by 800pm.. ====================

Best Fillet Knife
woody 184 replied to cuseroller's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I have been using Forschner Fillet Knives for years doing Deer Processing an absolutely incredible knife Super Durable and incredibly Sharp... There is no other knife for the price that I will use... Except for Skinning Deer then I have a nice Remington blade that comes with a Sheath for $30 online....... Woody -
I have found a better hookset without the Snubbers.. Ran them for the first year with the wire rods and then went straight no snubbers and more hookups....Just my 2 cents

Guys I have a quick question that Stimulated my peabrain the other day.. I was jigging Lake O the other day and snagged a few Gobies and they were good sized.... I was thinking about filleting them to work in a Meat Rig or Sushi setup... I know it aint an Alewife but wondered how it would work.... Anybody ever try this before????.. Thanks Woody

Hermit and Chug the other day was my maiden voyage. I had planned on hitting Canandaigua but with the 4th of July I figured I would just stay clear away till monday.. so I figured I would troll for a few hours in between kids doctors appointments and other kid commitments.. But the Lake was whitecapping and to windy to troll so I brought all my jigging stuff and seen some nice hooks and bait on bottom in 85fow so I tried but the wind just kept blowing me off the fish.... Great Screen on the fishfinder but could not get the jig to the bottom.. If I can get a calm morning I know I can produce on Lake Ontario........ Woody P.S I would Love a 25lb King on a jig.... Sounds like a Challenge.

Hermit nice report... I tried jigging lake O the other day but the wind was pushing me like 1.8 sog on the GPS... I tried holding my ground with my trolling motor but could not do it.... I could see nice fish on the bottom with bait balls around just too Windy..... Woody
