sound like ya have a auto reset relay kinda like headlights on a car going weak...they are designed to trip on heavy load ,but unlike a switch the contacts will wear or fail much sooner...this condition could be exaggerated also from wires breaking down near a crimp connection...guess ya gotta trace every wire starting at the power source (ground too)

perfect conditions ya just narrowed yer fishing colum to 50 ft ya shuda hunted around out there days like that you will find pods of fish and reel till yer arms are sore(work the pod)

My experience with Charters (friends) is they are a caring bunch who understand the waters and fishery very well . With better knowledge of their riggs and able to see a "dink" shakin a rigger ,,they are more apt to pop the rod and saftly release a small fish before it dies dragging it around..tho that does happen to every one now and again..Most pen rearing projects are in some way supported by them also. Many attend "State of the Lake" meetings or are aware of the issues by word at the docks....as with everything in life their are 10% who have no clue . that % is even higher in Washington but thats another topic............I would give the charters a "Gold Star" on this one..maybe" runnin robel " would get a black one..he he Hey Rob just got my case of "Pig Wings"

Like I said POOR INSTALL ,could be a issue,,Just so you know Hank....L&M has been doing all phases of boat maintiance for longer than most of us have been alive....and it is a well shared opinion that he is one of the best on lake O,and safe to say NY..But with that said keep doing what yer doing the way ya wanna,,,, the good news is you will only be in the dark till sun up ,,unless ya fry the wires and have a nice electrical fire that should give off enuf light to set rods..

whew ...if the battery was weak the big draw could draw reserve faster than engine can charge,putting large continious draw.... connections and wire size are important,,,,breakers (most all I know) trip due to heat caused by amperage draw. so its as simple as that...If the lights are your biggest (main) power draw still causing issues after checking all wire and connections ya might consider LED lights .thay ain't cheep but draw just a fraction of power as your current lights.
