  1. Must have. It has been blowing out of the north east for 2 days straight. As I type this there are 4-6 ft. waves out of the north east hitting Charlotte. Pier action might be on the next few days.....
  2. OOOPs. Someone already posted this....
  3. Newpossible world record caught in Michigan... http://www.freep.com/article/20090909/SPORTS10/90909087/1058/A-new-world-record-for-brown-trout-
  4. We have only ever caught the tigers in the 20"-26" range, but I have seen much bigger (over 30") taken through the ice. We have caught 2 over the summer while fishing for bass. Maybe a 1 to 15 ratio in terms of population to pike. ??
  5. Here is one from tonight. My friend caught this one while flipping the weeds in 12 fow for bass. They have been pretty active lately. Any of the weedlines near deep drops will produce fish. Old Orchard, McPherson, and Long points are good places to concentrate. We took this guy on the edge of the drop off near Camp Stella Maris.
  6. Nice job guys. We passed you as you were coming in at the mouth of the creek ( 19' Tracker.) Made the run out to 400 ft. and picked away at a couple steel and a couple small kings. 60-90 down over 400-430. on the way in at about dark the moon was rising as well as the fish. Had some insane screens from 380' into 350' but couldn't turn anything.
  7. Try the piers at both of those locations. This time of year for bass and perch then later in the fall for trout and salmon. Stop in at Mitchell's bait and tackle on Lake ave. and they can let you know what has been happening and steer you in the right direction as far as bait, tackle, etc. Also check out Bayside boat and tackle off Empire blvd. at the south end of irondequoit bay. they will help you out and you could also rent a canoe or boat there.
  8. Are the results posted anywhere? Didn't see them on the tourney website.
  9. Here is a 28" incher I caught through the ice on Canadaigua this past February. A nice one for sure, but pickeral this size are not uncommon in many of the Finger Lakes. Hemlock and Canadice have some big ones....
  10. I have been flayling my arms off three times off that pier already and have zip to show for it. Just goes to show you it is day to day.... Nice job Pop.
  11. The north and south ends have the shallowest water. Both are big flats the north end being the bigger. These are good places to start. Also cast around the drop offs around the points.
  12. Sweet fish H20 Gremlin! I took my personal best Finger Lakes 'bow out of Naples opening day afternoon. After fishing from legal sunrise, I finally connected just after 5 pm with this nice dropback. She hit a lowly night crawler I drifted in a deep hole. After a few pics I sent her on her way back down to the lake....
  13. My father and I casted from 7:15-9:30 with nothing to show. Only saw one boat hook up and that was on the Summerville side. All the other boats we saw make passes ended up heading west. the west breeze was picking up as we left and the water was becoming a bit more stained.
  14. Casted for a couple hours yesterday morning off Summerville and couldn't turn anything. Did see a few browns chasing minnows on the surface along the pier but couldn't tempt any of them... Will be out on the Charlotte side in the morning. The water had a bit more color on that side this afternoon.
  15. The stream was up a bit from wednesday nights rain, making the sampling process a bit more difficult. Much fewer fish turned up in the survey than in most years, but the water conditions weren't ideal, as some fished escaped the nets. The ones that did turn up, were fresh run fish and hadn't spawned yet. The prize of the morning was an 11.2 lb. female that turned up out of the big digger below the streams junction off Mark Circle. What a beauty!
  16. Took the one in the video trolling in front of Russell Station a couple springs ago. Very often catch them around the Charlotte and Summerville piers. Bottom picture is one we caught suspended off the Genesee river in 60 fow. He hit a reef runner off our boards in september while targeting kings. Weighed 9.7 lbs.
  17. Nice pics Rod! Beautiful fish. I have to agree with the Bermuda chub ID. Also, I think the last one is a small barracuda. The macks have a thin bony tail like a tuna.
  18. No way is that top one a rainbow. Both landlocks guys.... I have caught browns thru the ice this time of year that were still full of loose eggs as well. Sometime i guess they just don't spawn....
  19. Nice Tiger ! McPherson Point?
  20. Haven't iced that elusive 40" northern we have been after this seaon, but here are some of the nice fish we have caught along the way... The closest.....Dad's 39" Dad's 37" Jay's 37" My 36" Jay's 32" My 33" My 35" Dan's 30"
  21. Cleaning our catch @ Sea Bird Marina, Long Key :
  22. The lobster tag is the best deal going isn't it! For $ 4.00 you can take 5 a day in season! I've never been that lucky however. I average just one or maybe 2 legal bugs each time down. Plenty of short ones however... As far as your boat, check out Seabird marina. They are the small marina just south of Fiesta Key on Long Key. Not sure about fees, but they have a launch and slips. They are gulfside between the state park and Fiesta Key. Got into these jack along the bridge immediatey south of Long key in Oct. Took 20-30 minutes each on 12lb gear. Amazing. Can't explain the power of ocean fish to anyone that has never been. Nothing in freshwater compares.... My favorite however is wading for 'cuda using topwater at dusk. Have some GPS coordinates for a few spots off sprigger bank if you are interested... Good luck....be sure to post pics....
  23. Beautiful catch! Some great eating there! Where abouts in Long key you staying? My wife and I stay at the Lime Tree Bay Resort and we rent boats out of Seabird marina on Long Key. We fish down there about once a year and have gone in Feb. before several times. It can be a tricky month down there. We were most recently there in October for our 5th year anniversary. Spent a day off Sprigger Banks for some food fish (snapper, seatrout, etc.) then played around the bridges and took some BIG Jack and 'cuda.
