  1. Don’t know angles. Maybe you can tell from pics. One like new. The other had the groves deepened. They came with rod holders I bought. Make an offer. I’m in Watertown Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. It is a company based in Hong Kong. I’d would do a lot of research before committing to a purchase. How long to receive the engine ? Duty ? Taxes ? Tariffs? I have received items from China in the past and shipping takes a month or more Caveat emptor. Buyer beware Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  8. I have two Cannon Uni-Troll HP downriggers for sale they are in excellent condition. Adjustable booms 2 to 5 ft. Cannon weight retrievers and low profile swivel bases. One rigger has 400 ft of 150# stainless cable, the other has 250 ft of coated stainless 150 # cable ( had a down probe on this rigger ) both cables replaced last year the clutch pads and spring and pawl and bearing were replaced last year Very little use since then has 4 rod holders Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Went out of Stoney. Haven’t been to Henderson yet this year. Don’t believe the GLS will fit under the bridge. Have to make the run around association
  10. Very much. Comfortable and fishes and handles the waves well. We ended up with one shaker king and one oil can ( LT ) both returned to fight another day. I was rusty and dropped four fish Beautiful day and the GLS ran great. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  13. Absolutely. But with the cone that is produced by your ducer ,seeing fish more than a few feet to either side is doubtful. I just picked up a unit with side scan. Can’t wait to try it Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. LO currents play a major role in downspeed. I have read volumes from experienced Capts. They state that currents can and do sometimes run , say N to S at a certain depth and E to W 20 feet deeper Watching rigger cable angles can tell you a lot. If you’re speed over ground ( or water ) is say 2.5 mph and your cables are blowing back at a 40 degree angle , it’s a good bet your baits are in a current going counter to your course and your baits are spinning wildly and way above where you think you’re fishing . Conversely, at the same speed you notice little blow back. You are probably in a current going with you and your baits are hanging with little or no action . A heavier weight will help keep your baits closer to your intended depths , but they can’t tell you if your in a current Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. No. They are the same distance from the transducer. Your sonar is a distance finder. The weight may be 100 ft from the ducer. But actually at 80 ft depth because of blowback Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. It’s possible you are watching fish streak to your non probe bait I went to 16# torpedoes from troutman. Love em I made a chart years ago. Before down probes. I’ll see if I can find it and post a pic. It’s eye opening. If I remember. A 45 degree angle on the cable requires 175 ft if cable to reach 100 ft Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. My point is : you may be fishing 20 ft higher in the water column than you think My SNT tells depth at the ball. I need to let out ( depending on speed, wind an currents ) sometimes 125 ft of cable to reach 100 ft on the probe. It’s accurate. Tested against depth and temp probe If I watch sonar ( distance finder ) it shows my weight at 100 ft with 100 ft of cable deployed. It’s not. It’s probably at 80 ft the sonar is showing an object ( weight ) 100 ft from the transducer the fish are not a part of the boat as is your gear. That’s the reason for the arches. The true depth of the fish is at the top of the arch fish at 100 ft. Bait at 80. Could be your problem Check amount of blow back between riggers
  18. Does your probe tell you actual depth ? If not , it is probable that your probe rigger is fishing shallower than your other side due to increased blowback Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. The only "Obstructions" that I am aware of are concerning the placement of the turbines . There are plenty of rural areas that have the potential for wind farms ( look at Lowville NY ) . There is no reason to place these ugly towers in peoples front yards, Galloo Island would have made a picturesque view from Henderson Harbor . And placing them 0ffshore is beyond unacceptable . The environmental damage that could result makes coal fired power plants seem safe . I will continue to "obstruct" any proposal that places these things in Lake Ontario or on any adjacent property that is populated . And on a further note , these wind farm promoters seem to dodge the question of mortality to wildlife . They totally ignored the fact that bald eagles and a certain species of bat nest and inhabit Galloo Island . It's all about the $$$$ , they have no interest in the harm they could cause

  22. We had a camp on N Sandy Pond and I remember the little ankle biters from back then. That was in the late 70’s and early 80’s They do seem to be more numerous. And I still have to wonder how they manage to fly that distance 15 miles off shore doesn’t seem to bother them at all. By the way , they are stable flies Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
