  1. I have owned Remington firearms my whole life. I have an 1100TB , that has thousands and thousands of rounds through it . Never an issue with dependability I own 3 870’s same thing. Never a problem. I have a 760 in .308. Love it. The list goes on. I am a Remington man. If they go the way of the dinosaur , it will be a sad day Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  3. I used the arm of the rigger to get a rough level. A bubble level would be useless on a rolling pitching boat. The angle is close with this method. Not perfect
  4. I made up charts years ago that I used with a simple protractor from the store. This was before I got a probe that shows actual depth. It’s a real eye opener to see how much cable you need to deploy to reach a specified depth. I now use 16 # torpedoes. MUCH less blowback as son as I can dig out my tackle bag I will take pics and post them. Hope it will help
  5. Your sonar (distance finder) will show the distance your weight is from the transducer. It does not mean you are trolling at that depth Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Totally illegal. A watch must be maintained at all times. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. There is NO right of way on the water. There are stand on and give way vessels. ALL vessels must take any and all actions necessary to avoid a collision read the rules of navigation put out by CG /Homeland Security Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. The Oneida river drains Oneida Lake it joins the Seneca and Oswego at Three Rivers. The Oswego empties into Oswego harbor. So any flooding in Oneida lake could only add to the woes of Lake O Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Drain plugs on the 3.0 are on the port side . One in the side of the engine block , one on the bottom of the manifold .Use a stiff piece of wire to probe both drain holes . Sand and scale can clog the openings . You will think all the water has drained ,when there is still some trapped . For the record , I don't use RV or any other anti freeze . Just drain it and leave it .
  10. I have always launched at French Creek Marina. He charges $5.00 be aware that the bridge is low don't know the actual clearance. But t tops are out the public launch in Clayton is free. There is no parking. You have to find a place to park on a side street and walk back to the dock. Sometimes several blocks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. Salmon River Hatchery Made the yearly pilgrimage to the hatchery in Altmar .The fish ladders are loaded with fish . There seem to be more , and bigger ,fish in evidence this year than in the past 3 or 4 .The creek above the barrier is full of fish , so some are making it further up the creek. Natural production ? The biologist I talked to said that they will stop stripping eggs and milt this week . They have enough .054.MOV

  17. Trench 8/30 Fished the Trench from 6;30 to12;00 noon . Screen was loaded with marks all day . Managed 4 kings and 2 coho . No majors , kings ran 12 to 16 lbs. Lots of boats but everyone was courteous and gave plenty of room .
  18. X2. I had to replace my cable this past spring. Same symptom hard steering. Not a bad job. Running it to the stern was the worst part take your old cable out before you order the new cable. The length is clearly marked on the cable Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. As you stated. Avoiding a collision is paramount there is really no right of way on the water. There are stand on and give way vessels but the rules of the road stipulate that the rules go out the window to avoid a collision Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Think you may have been too shallow. That storm blew a lot of warm water into the bay. A good way to tell if you have DF transducer is to check the mounting bracket on the stern. A DF is a bigger ducer and has a two piece plastic mount. The 200 kHz skimmer trans has a one piece metal bracket Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Do you have a dual frequency transducer ? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Pancakes =tangles. Especially in cross currents. Get some 12 lb ( or heavier ) torpedo weights. And keep in mind with this much blowback , you may need 150 ft or more downrigger cable out to reach 100 ft Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
