  1. She looks a little "damp". Congrats to the killer.......
  2. WTH? Just for grins, the Rochester bouy data for roughly the last 3 weeks.... the wind at noon on every day..... The last week has been 100% with an East component. The last 3 weeks has been roughly 80%. I can't imagine this is gonna help our fishing off Rochester.......
  3. You'll see people fishing for perch off the East pier out of Wilson. I've never done it, but based on the numbers of fishermen, they do take some fish there.......
  4. We fished yesterday out of SP and just picked at them....... One spot we fished, we landed 10 bass in 60 FOW......... Seemed weird to me that bass would be that deep.... is that common?
  5. I've had good luck with Garmins echo series fish finders..... but it looks like they've got a new series out.....
  6. We've caught plenty of walleye on spoons off the riggers in Erie, under the right conditions...... Long leads doesn't hurt any.
  7. Having grown up within 2 blocks of the bay, Gangreen hit it on the head.........There used to be (probably still is) some excellent fishing in the bay, but water temps pretty much dictate what kind of fish are available.
  8. From GoErie.com "The big news this week is a likely new state record perch. On Wednesday, a 1515/16-inch perch that weighed 2 pounds, 14 ounces was pulled from Presque Isle Bay. We are still waiting for confirmation." Not as big as the NY record of 3 lb 8 oz (a Lake Erie fish) but a very nice fish. Looking forward to our 1st trip of the season...... when it stops snowin' and blowin'.
  9. Anybody ever center pin for them in the river? What baits?????? I've tried in some of the deeper sections with bass minnows and all I got was cats.......
  10. Jumped a woodcock today while out for a walk...... must be migrating back thru.
  11. Those are great pics Whaler....... We didn't run last weekend........ drove around but no sightings, so we never cut the dogs loose.... our season is about done. the good news is that fishing is picking up!
  12. cold tonight, and no new snow for the morning...... gonna be another tough one.
  13. I haven't looked at the ramp since last sunday, but it was froze up then......
  14. Bold...... they haven't been pressured much!
  15. That is great news...... can't wait to see him standing at the helm......!!!
  16. Here's one of those Montana wolves (but not mine). Back when I was a real man........
  17. Once a year, if you cut out the "curly" section of wire (1st 8 feet or so) and re-terminate, it keeps the potential for kinks/frays down.... My experience is that it's not that big a PITA to look for an alternative to wire...... For 2016, I'm hoping to run 4 wire divers on Erie for walleyes..... our wires were so successful last year. This may cause other headaches..... I'll let you know.
  18. Time to break out the greenbacks Whaler, and outfit that .204 with a thermal scope!
  19. Coyote Back Straps...... I just puked a little...... you must be supplying the China Moon ......
  20. The people I know from NW Montana are hunters, miners, and National Forest Service employees, and they strongly dislike wolves.... This area is outside of the financial influence of Yellowstone. I've been hunting there since 1991..... In the winter of '96-'97 they lost a large percentage of their deer and elk herd to a very nasty winter. Like 60% of the deer and 40% of the elk...... but over the next few years the game populations recovered. I don't remember the year the wolves started showing up, but it's been at least 10 years that they have had wolf predation in the area..... the game population has not recovered, and other predators are being affected too...... fewer cougars, fewer grizzlies (not a bad thing ), fewer black bears..... prey species of course have been affected..... deer, elk, moose, sheep, goats..... You can say what you want about the health of the aspen and beavers in the park (Yellowstone), but outside of the park, wolves have had a very negative impact from many peoples perspective. Not just outfitters. Not just ranchers ....... Those rural mountain communities rely on tourism dollars, and hunters provide income not just for outfitters, but lodgers, restaurants, gas stations, many ancillary businesses...... It's a fair bet that 90% of the locals outside of the park "environment" strongly dislike wolves...... and Democrats
  21. 10000 snows in Hamlin on Superbowl Sunday....... migrating crows along the lakeshore yesterday.....This rain will blow out the creek, and hopefully old man winter will leave it alone ....... we can hope can't we?????
  22. I ran a pair of "walmart" batteries on that motor last year and had performance about like dawgs. That was their 1st year in service...... pulling around an 18' aluminum boat.
  23. Thoughts, Prayers, and Best Wishes.....
