  1. We fished tonight from about 6 Pm 'til 8, and landed a low 20's king and one skippy...... losing another nice king at the back of the boat. Hardly marked any fish, and fished between 100 and 200 fow....... all 3 bites came on spoons behind divers out 250 - 275.
  2. I also use a 24v Terrova in autopilot mode on the bow of a 18' aluminum boat in conjunction with a 9.9 kicker, trolling for walleyes and salmon............ works well.
  3. I've run Shimano Triton rods that were purchased in the 90's for downrigging, with a twilli tip and they've worked fine......... like above, they may not be perfect, but they've worked fine and keep on ticking.
  4. That settles it....... everybody to dvdegeorge's house for grub.
  5. It's a pretty big lake...... more specifics on your plans might get you a response.......
  6. This is the 1st season we've run Chamberlain releases, and they do perform as advertised....... the silver bass on Erie will trip them..... they're pretty sweet.
  7. I thought a few of the mature fish we've caught this year have looked their teeth are pushing up already. Seems a little early.........
  8. Fished out of SP yesterday, and managed 5. We spent some time out by the fence and took 2 pretty quick fish, but there weren't many marks and after a couple of hours on an east troll we ran way west (no fun running) and stayed N, but still not many marks....... it wasn't until we came south that we started marking fish/bait, and took 3 more in there..... Not a great outing, I think we covered alot of MT water. all fish came on sticks or spoons......
  9. fished solo this morning and wound up with 5. nothing big...... maybe 12 lbs.
  10. Good question...... 1's? They're about this big...... (holds up hands with index fingers and thumbs touching)......
  11. Heard a story from Olcott about water rushing out of 18 mile during a T-storm, years ago...... and then 2 years ago while coming into Sandy to avoid a T-storm, there was an unusual amount of current in the creek rushing towards the lake..... hard to explain, but I'm sure it was somehow related to that storm.
  12. There was some westbound current...... speed varied from 1.8 to 2.2 on my probe, which I think reads slower than actual speed....
  13. Enjoyed a beautiful night out of Sandy. Fished from 5 - 7:30 and boated 8 fish out of 11 hook-ups. 7 kings and 1 steelhead. Spoon bite for us. 160 - 180 FOW. 90 down on the riggers, and 250 on the divers was pretty solid.
  14. that's just a monster........ Hard to believe they could put on another 10 lbs......
  15. Back when meat became 1st became popular, I ran it, and it produced well for me........ back then, I ran in mostly in the fall to staging kings behind 11" flashers. Since then, I've transitioned to Rockets. I've had some super days with it, and some not so super. But in general, once I learned how to tune it and how to run it, it produces as well as "real meat".... run behind spinneys, dodgers, flashers, and clean at all times of the year. I rarely fish real meat anymore........ It's not the answer you were hoping for, but it is my experience.
  16. You don't get away from the mercury by trimming away the belly and lateral lines. The other contaminants yes..... the mercury, no.
  17. I had one of my dogs dig up some rotten fish out of the garden last fall/winter.............. WHHHHOOOOOO did that dog STINK! I was gonna kill him, but couldn't stand the smell to get close enough to do it..... I don't know what would possess a dog to try to eat something like that...... must be a hound thing.
  18. Fished yesterday out of Sturgeon Point and struggled....... Trolled 3, 4, 5 color cores with harnessess off PB. sticks and harnessess off riggers, and harnesses/sticks off divers...... 4 or 5 bass, 4 or 5 sheepshead, and one beautiful catfish, but no walleyes..... Bottom Bounced around myers for a bit too...... Nice day to fish, but poor day to catch.
