  1. 2.0-2.3...i would let your lures out by the boat and watch there action. once they start wigglin the way you want them then stop, also make sure they are tracking straight! let them out at least 125 feet back and have fun!
  2. Just doing some spring cleaning on stuff that I don't use anymore. All stuff is located in Henderson NY (13650) or could be shipped at actual shipping prices. 2-Daiwa 47H Reels $30 each 2-12inch Universal Gimbal Mount Downrigger Base $30 each 2-Cabelas flush mount bases $20 for both 2-Cannon 2 foot metal boom off new cannon rigger $10 each 2-Cannon Multi Rod Holder $30 each Prices negotiable so make offers!
  3. i loved my raymarine A-65 and now I have a Garmin 7000 series but both are a little over you budget but well worth it if you can spare a few more bucks.
  4. depending on water temps and if it gets warm I would start out at the high rocks/Wehle's Camp and run an inside board to snug up closer to the shallow water (watch out its really rocky bottom) and also run riggers over 50 feet of water. run that all the way up to the lighthouse in gravelys bay and you should produce by then, if you start popping there no need to run around the bend to the sand. if that first pass doesn't produce continue around the light house and work those bays. If you have a smaller boat you can always head out of Stony Creek and have the option to hit the sand first but normally they make it to at least gravely's bay by may. this time of year I run spoons with copper backs or smithwick stick baits on boards as go to lures.
  5. i would start with a new plug and use it under your normal load that you want. after a little while remove the plug and look at it...most likely in your case it will come out black and wet. If that is the case you are extremely rich and I would lean it out a little. You can also try a hotter plug but messing with the gap would probably make it run worse since it would take more energy to jump the bigger gap. with this little motor pushing a bigger boat it is probably struggling to make enough power at low speeds and it never gets a chance to clean it self out at higher RPM's. i have also heard that you can lean our a mixture a bit but i would rather mess with the carb adjustment first to see if you can fix it. here is a link to pictures of plugs. good luck!!! http://modernvespa.com/pix/uploads/spark_plug_colour_810.jpg
  6. Go a few miles out of the trench...they are out there for sure. [ Post made via Android ]
  7. Best bet is to hit a tackle shop for the different colors. Everyday could be a different color but they would know what's been hot in your area. I have been running my lures prettying tight to the balls early in the day at anywhere between 8-20 feet. Little bit more action when they are aggressive in the morning but then stretch them out in the midday. Wanna catch fish guaranteed then just get a cowbell rig and literally drag the bottom and u will have lake trout galore. Good luck! [ Post made via Android ]
  8. LOL...i think unless you live on Galloo then its a long ride for everyone to get to Duck Island. Thank God that the fishing is good closer to the trench this year or I would have to make that journey as well!
  9. So I was thinking about making the trip up to the French Festival by boat Saturday night to watch the fireworks with the family from Henderson. Has anybody been to the fireworks in a boat? Any suggestions on how close I would have to get or a good spot to view them in the river? I estimate it to be a 23-25 mile trip from my port so it should be a nice adventure and to test out how good I am with the new Garmin Chartplotter.
  10. I got the 620 and kind of like it for my Lake Ontario boat. I did not make any adjustments and leave it in auto mode and have no problems getting nice big arches. The only difference is that I use a Airmar bronze thru hall transducer. Maybe that is the difference? Good luck and I hope you find your answers!
  11. the only colors that seem to work for me are Black and this really old dipsey that is kinda yellow but its really faded. I have used the Wonderbread color but never had luck with it.
  12. i don't think there is enough HP on that boat. Probably run out of gas before it left the harbor...lol
  13. If u go to Henderson then Harbors End marina is a great place. Covered slips and the bay is a great place to hang out when u are not after the big boys. Spring browns a plentiful which then turns into great walleye fishing around all the islands on Chaumont. The best of all is the fall salmon run which ranks right up there with any place on the lake. 14. I am looking into purchasing a Chartplotter soon. I am in search of something with a 6 inch screen or larger that I can get for around $800. I see Lowrance has a nice unit for around this price but not to sure about their quality these past few years. Any suggestions would be great!
  15. Anyway, to get back to the question I think that time and the American people getting kicked between the legs so bad that the people unify instead of pick a side. I think that the majority of the people want the same things in our country but our party system purposely divides while they laugh at us behind closed doors. In my eyes the tea party and Occupy are not that much off if u get down to it. Maybe they should unify and we can take back our beautiful land. [ Post made via Android ]
  16. I totally agree with you on all of this...just seems like no matter if we have ethanol in our gas or not we have these stock brokers running up our commodities. A good place to start is putting a stop to trading on oil futures as well as your point. Politics are crappy and we all have to live with it, its even worse when it interferes with fishing! 17. Problem is that this ethanol was in place prior to this administration. No matter a Dem. Or Rep. In office our politicians are getting their share of wealth while the ordinary folk suffers. Wish it was just as easy as voting one person out. [ Post made via Android ]
  18. as long as you are running to the poles a lot you will be fine. 45 degrees and getting wet might be cold, crocs makes a lot of styles now so you might be able to find something other than the clog type
  19. some crocs are horrible but some crocs are not bad but my favorite are these Sperry's. Can get them pretty cheap online or at Journey's and work great on the deck! http://www.sperrytopsider.com/store/Sit ... =&viewall=
  20. eat them up! i use to hate eating fish until i started cleaning and preparing it myself. my personal favorite is a nice cold water caught Brown Trout. spring can't come soon enough!
  21. ahhhhhh....antler restriction. gotta love it! LOL
  22. i see people out there in boats barely bigger than a row boat and they seem to do fine. pay attention to weather (wind direction, storms, etc) and know the capabilities of your equipment and you will be fine. sometimes fishing out of my dads 16 foot aluminum is more fun than the 28 footer in the spring. when you fish in NJ do you troll? if you troll into a 2-3 footer with a boat that doesn't have a big bow you might be taking some water over the front so be careful.
  23. Fished Trench area all the way around the finger. had decent action in all the areas with most of our action coming off of dypsey divers out 200' with Live Wire Spin doctor and matching fly. Did have a nice king we lost at the boat on a Echip hologram with a green stripe running down it. Kings are in the trench but not as many as I like to see. Hopefully within a week or two it will be loaded but then again so will everybody with a boat in the northeast!
