    Rut 2008

sorry it's late! 10/22 5:45pm DMU-8G Wind North @ 15mph drizzle at 40 degrees 6 pointer walked by with nose to ground - no response to grunts or bleats. New area to me so unsure of scrape and rub activity. Shawn

    Rut 2008

We could come up with a format such as: DATE OF HUNT: TIME OF DAY: DMU/LOCATION: TEMP: WIND DIRECTION: ACTIVITY: ETC... Just a thought. Shawn
  4. Nice buck! Neck looks pretty swollen! Shawn
  5. Nice buck!! Congrats!!! He will definitely look good on the wall. Shawn
  6. Near the town of Pike. Lotsa nice area in that county. Where were you at this past weekend? I also hunt in Allegany County near Rushford - some of my buddies that were hunting over there had similar sightings. I thought the rut was supposed to be late this year! Shawn
  7. Congrats on your success YT. Same thing over in Wyoming Co. - does were very skittish, bucks chasing doe, making scrapes, rubs etc. Had a doe walking around with her tail straight up for a half hr. Passed up a couple "young ones" and a great weekend to be in the woods. Shawn
  8. Brings back the question of what was that photo really of earlier on the camera - bear or coon?? or Ray..................................? Seriously though, too much of this kinda crap goin on out there with stands, cameras, etc stolen. I've actually had a stand stolen by someone who had to bring their own steps and bolt cutters to steal a $50.00 tree stand! The DEC receives 1000's of complaint calls about this every year and not much they can do about it. Don't let that deter you from reporting it to them though, cause they need to be aware of what's goin on in specific locations and just giving them a "heads up" can't hurt. Might wanna keep and eye out for ebay sales! Hope everyone has a SAFE and successful hunting season! Shawn
  9. Great pics!! Nice work! Shawn
  10. Ray, that's something you "lost" a long time ago!! Mothballs haven't worked that good at huntin camp - worked for boat though - gonna try the dryer sheets and like moisture absorber suggestion! Shawn
  11. Now look what you did!!! lol Shawn
  12. Good stuff above - one thought though is - be careful of moisture/condensation between the tarp and cover leading to mold. As Tom stated - don't make it too air tight. Shawn
  13. Got out around 3:00 with salmonite on board - so much for waves under a foot! Trolled East and picked up a 4-5lb brown on a NBK mag 40/50. Nothing out to 130fow until back West into 70fow where we picked up a small king on a lemon ice cheater in the 30' range. That was it for the day - varied speeds, depths and lures to no avail. Most everyone we talked to said it was a tough day with one or none caught. Shawn
  14. Great video LS! Tell me you weren't waiting for their boat to be bounced up though! Thanks for sharing! Shawn
  15. FYI - http://www.cityofrochester.gov/mayor/Ne ... lease=3121 Be safe out there, Shawn
  16. Thanks guys! Hank, the boat is running good! Even better after replacing the water seperator filter. Thanks for ALL your help with her!! Shawn
  17. Got lines in about 4:00 a little East of Port in 70fow and before the last rod was set - fish on! A nice fiesty 14lb king on the 66 rigger with a NK nbk mag. Trolled out to 100 and the 80' rigger goes and we land an 8+lb king which took a black and purple NK mag (not sure of name). Stayed in around 100fow and next fish was lost near the boat - king 10 -15lbs that hit the same NBK mag. We took three more kings - two around 10lbs and one dink. One on Tranny mag and the other two one a green.glow j-plug - same rigger depths. Nothing on the dipsies at various depths - one side with flasher flies and the other with spoons. Good to be out - better to catch fish - and best of all - THE BILLS WON!! Shawn
  18. Chili guy here too - welcome and ask away. Used to ride my bike to Churchville all the time as a kid and fish Black Creek. Always lookin for people to fish with. Shawn
  19. Welcome! You've come to the right place! GREAT buch of people here who are willing to help anyone. There is a lot of good info in past posts so sit back and enjoy and take notes. Shawn
  20. Nice fish guys! What a day to be out there! Shawn
  21. I've been using these for 2 yrs now and wouldn't change back. Had same problem as Chowder at first, but you'll get the knack of it after a couple adjustments - holding the nut as Billy stated. Not having the weight tightened down enough may cause it to shift, and change course. Good luck, Shawn
  22. Yup! Meat in the freezer! Shawn
  23. Hey ptooley1 I haven't fished Sandy this season. Mostly Point Breeze and Sodus a couple times. Call me when you get a chance. Shawn
  24. Got a much later start than anticipated ands didn't get on the water until 8:30. Found many boats right out in front , some slightly East, and some slightly West, working depths out to 100fow or so. We (first timer and myself) opted to go East away from the pack working 60-80fow. Picked up a skipper on a dipsey, 110' out with an Stinger NBK on a 7' lead. Nothing more on the East troll. Turned back West, and soon picked up a screamer on a Mag custom Pirate spoon down 70 over 90. Took an initial 300' run and a few more small runs and we finally landed a nice 25+lb king - very silver! Next fish was a nice 6-7lb steelie that came on a silver/blue j-plug down 60 over 100. We then doubled on a set of dark kings in the low teens. Quite the "chinese fire drill" with these two fish, bumpy conditions, and a first timer on board!! Lots of fun though!! First fish netted had an 18' lamprey on it that went back in pieces. That was it for us and pulled lines at noon. Tried to get the pics off my phone to post, but I'm an idiot when it comes to that. Will get help later hopefully. Got help! Shawn
