  1. It's great to see young hunters in the sport....looks like one hell of shot to. Congrats to the both of you Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. That sounds like a week for the record books. Great job and thanks for sharing the pics Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. No hard feelings I didn't take it that way at all ....I do wish the state could manage hunter retention and the deer heard ......my own personal way of managing my property is to pass smaller bucks but as for the yahoo neighbor hunting 6guys on 10 acres I doubt he passes on fawn let alone a 4pt ..... Who I dislike to use kind words Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Well Ray here ya go.....I was hunting a small 7acre piece my neighbor lets me hunt behind my house and at about 8am this buck came out walking right at me....he barley gave me time to grab the bow....so I had him straight on at 5yds which had me shaking like leaf....the buck spooked as an arrow slowly started to fall out of my quiver but didn't fall to the ground thank god .....luckily he jumped back 20yrds turned around and came right back to me eventually giving me a 10yrd broadside shot ! .......I will say I have been using the evercalm deer scent for two years now and the deer love it ....that bedding scent seems to give them just enough security on windy days or if they are spooked to calm their nerves Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Chas0218 when you say if you hunt now a days you can afford to feed your family that maybe the case for you but you have to remember we all don't walk in the same shoes. I for instance probably spend more than I'd actually ever like to total. However my buddy who I mentioned before doesn't spend that money he shoots a rem 870 with remington $5 box sluggers and a plain blaze orange bib.....it's these guys who I think we would be pushing out of the sport....that seems to lose more and more hunters each year . I do however like the results in states that have the earn a buck program where you must first shoot a doe . Just my two cents which is probably worth .05 cents Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I totally agree with better heard management and I'm lucky enough to have 50 acres to myself But here is my issue with antler restriction. I know a few family's who heavily rely on venison to them a 160" buck feeds the family just as well as a spike. So I'll give his example...he hunts state land where DMPs are pref point only and it has a lot of hunting pressure. If that guy can shoot a spike to provide for his family...I'm sure his whole family is happy....VS having few shots but no dinner because the buck didn't have a 3rd point......next gripe ....poor economy ,guy using hunting to feed his family, $100 license but he can only shoot a buck with 3 or better..... I wonder how many of these family's will buy licenses and take deer in or out of season .....last thought why doesn't NY skip the fancy new license print and put that money towards better wildlife management or perhaps lower the cost of license..by the way mine is still a yellow tag because the new fancy paper wouldn't work Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Well after arrowing my personal best, the search was on for the right taxidermist. I went with matt cantrell out of Brockport. His work can be seen at the brockport Walmart hunting dept and on his facebook. After a very trusted recommendation that's who I chose. His shop looks awesome and so do his mounts as well he is very personable. If your in the market here is his number 585-590-1126 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. That's some motivation to hunt everyday possible! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. That's a great bow kill congrats Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I know there are lots of mixed thoughts on with the rage expandable but since I've made the switch I haven't tracked a deer over 50 yards. Plus they are like a stealth bomber flying compared to friends who shoot the G5 fixed, they sound like a 747 flying through the air ( maybe exaggerated a bit but you get the point) Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Hey thanks guys. That hole is thanks to the regular rage 2 blade. Good luck in the rest of bow season and stay safe. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. After having several close encounters and two misses over my 15 years of hunting I often wondered if I'd ever put a buck on the wall .....well today was my day a giant by no means but a trophy for me...this old 9pt made a fatal mistake Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I run two sets of cameras bushnell trophy cams for my place in alfred which has no trespassers and wild game cams out here in Hilton at a small piece I hunt that has a lot of neighboring foot traffic with kids .....I will say the wild game misses a lot of pics vs the bushnell which doesn't seem to miss any....when I check the cameras the wild game won't pick me up walking 30yrds out until I get a pic of my hand opening the camera but the wildgame got this guy on cam.... 14. I'll second missdemeanor ....I use the lightfields in my 20ga 1100....expensive but the best slug I've found that is always consistent Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Just got off the phone with dmv/ parks and recreation.......all you would need is a MV 51b form and a bill of sale ......then I can register the boat that day and will obtain the necessary numbers to throw a motor on .....hopefully his will help anyone else needed to cross this bridge .....a bit of pain but the deal is to good to pass Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Thanks for the help guys I'll call the dmv before I stop in and I'll post my results Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. The boat has no numbers ...however I'd like to throw a motor on and make it a duck hunting boat.....so I'm hoping I can register with just a bill of sale ...or just register it as it was always mine Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I'm looking at a 97 Jon boat that's 12ft .....the guy has no papers......DMV states boats built after 88 and 14 ft long have titles ....does this mean since the boats newer than 88 but less than 14 I won't need a title just a bill of sale to register it ?!?! ....I'd like to buy it but don't want to show up tomorrow to the dmv and be S.O.L. .......thanks do any insight Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. That's a sweet picture.....what's odd to me is my camp is just down the road in alfred and we have no bears or yotes. I run 4 cameras at my place. I think I'd pass On a bear but would love to at least get a trail cam pic Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Well I've never caught a small pike with that style coloring and I'm pro at catching small fish lol.....I guess you learn something new everyday with fishing. Thanks for the quick response guys Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. So my wife took the dog for a walk over at Braddocks bay and stumbled upon this fish.....could be a tiger or just an odd coloring for a pike I'll let you pros make the call Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I have fished them in the past but not in two to three years. Just wondering if guys are still fishing them with any luck. I've heard some chatter but understand most keep quite about this spot. Any info would be great .....also if you don't want to share with the world just shoot me some info to the inbox. Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Standard Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I fish Braddocks a lot due to it being a mile from house and i haven't seen it pick up like it was last year. Although I can tell ya when it gets tough a white rattle trap usually always produces some fish on hard days. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
