Chas0218.....I as well friends that hunt pa....they don't see a change....now last year for my 30th bday my wife bought me a hunt at an outfitter in Ohio....there was 5 guys from pa so I asked how ARs were working....their response is why do you think we are paying to hunt Ohio....not say I'm right or your wrong but that's the response i got about ARs.......I'd like to see honest answers from wmu 3 and 4 on how AR impacted area. I'm not for MANDATORY AR and here's why. 1. For the guy who hunts state land with the Orange army, any deer taken is a trophy. Why continue to hunt when in most areas in the Southern tier you get no doe permits and now you have to wait for certain number of points. Why pay $100 and not be able to shoot anything. Might as well get a SAMs club membership for that money. 2. In talking with guys from Pa. They all say instead of someone shooting a spike they shoot a 1 1/2 six point ...the deer was able to grow but was harvested way below its potential because he met the requirement. So it's a wash 3. I have a 3 friends who all started hunting in their late 20s. Two of them hunted with trophy hunters...for two years they saw plenty of little bucks but weren't allowed to shoot due not outside the ears....well they never shot and now they no longer hunt due to loss of interest. 4. I feel the tradition of hunting is lost and this is whole debate is fueled by the glamour of TV hunting shows. Where they are not hunting to put food on the table and share memories. Simply shoot for the rack and donate the venison. However uncle Ted still shoots whatever and I like that. 5.AR are like the safe act....did 7bullets instead of 8 make anyone safer......is a small six point better than a big 4pt. With all that being said I don't shoot a buck smaller than my biggest one so if my biggest buck was a 6pt I no longer shoot 4pts. I think the state has more than enough rules and if someone wants to trophy hunt do it and if someone wants to shoot whatever a trophy to them is do it. No problem. Coopers usually has more bad days then good and in the summer Its like a boat merry go round that gets way over fished. Usually has 6 bass boats going in a circle all flipping plastics Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hey by no means is it a secret. It's connected to braddocks. Take north Greece rd to the end. Before you go over the bridge there is parking on the left. If you do go cross the road to get on the ice don't go under the bridge. Then walk the creek north and your first inlet on the right leads to the pond maybe 400yrds from the bridge. When walking in stay to the right of the small channel, the middle was open a touch........the pond itself max depth in the middle is 12-15ft. From my experience the edges produce better for pike and panfish are all over. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

Well I hit the pond today seeing as cranberry, long and braddocks have been slow and hit or miss. Well I caught a three man limit of dink perch from noon-3. Which provided some entertainment. Not a single flag on the tip ups. Few other guys out there moving all over the pond for the panfish sorting through the dinks. I did see they had one flag but didn't land the fish........ice is decent some spots had 5in of black ice other spots had 3in white ice 2in black ice......with all that being said it would be a good spot to take the kids and not get bored. Went out to the firing pin in Bergen today to throw a 100 rds through the gun. I must say it's the most fun I had shooting a rim fire in a long time, the gun worked great and super smooth. The gun held pretty tight groups with open sights. I have no doubt if you added a scope you could drive tacks out to 100yrds. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

We'll I've scrapped the 30-30 idea but not the lever gun. I've decided to buy a Henry 17 hmr varmint express. The gun has awesome reviews and will see more use than the 30-30 would ever see. It will serve as a small game gun and a fun plinking gun for my son when he is old enough. Only down side I'll have to take the hour ride to cabelas in buffalo as they are the only ones to have it in stock. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

I pulled my trail cam cards today and on two different days I had a doe flying through with a buck chasing her(the upside to using 30sec video) Both bucks were small and the doe looked smaller as well Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

How about pick up after yourself is my 1st tip. Nothing burns my a$$ than seeing the ice filled with cig's/beer cans/ and other garbage 2nd tip try a clove a garlic in your bait bucket.....can't say it works 100% of the time but seems to do better on slow and heavy pressured days Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I'm looking to buy a .30-.30, but here is Where I'm torn. In all honestly I would more than likely use the gun for deer once or twice a year just for the hell of it and take to range a few times as fun gun to shoot . Plus I just want one to add to the collection. So do I buy a pre 64 model 94 for $800 or go with the marlin 336 for $400. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

I drive that stretch often during hunting and fishing season and I've noticed the same thing. I think it has a lot to do with it's mostly ag fields with very few big chunks of woods, mostly small wood lots. So I assume the deer are on the move between woods lots on either side of the road all sharing small woods with a big population.Once there is snow on the ground you can really see how thin the woods are. I think it will be hard on the yearlings. Hopefully they can Hurd up in some pine thickets. I know if I owned land out that way I'd try my best to run a tractor or snowmobile on a few trails to make it easy on them. I've done it down in alfred during hard winters with my atv and man does it turn into a deer highway Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I've got 50 acres in alfred and this winter I had a fisher on trail cam....contacted the dec they stated that in recent years they have really moved into the southern tier and studying all sightings and have many hair traps in the area. Pretty cool and much bigger than I thought it would be. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I've used one once...I didn't have any luck but, I have a small buck and doe walk within 50yrds and it didn't spook them at all so I still chalked that up as a win.....my buddy uses the tinks blow up doe and has had a lot of luck placing it on the field edge.
