  1. I always release in hopes some young kid hooks up on the big fish. Big rattle traps were the key or if you have any like 6in jakes in chrome or white would work. Did catch a few on chrome J11's.... The bay is at 64degrees now but once is hits around 70 it's generally all hammer handle pike. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. The pike action has been hot and heavy...went 12 for 15 Sunday. Many solid 30"/32" fish. Along with this 37" slob. All fish were released. Hot color was chrome Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I usually hunt a honey hole with wise older family friend. We haven't seen or heard a bird all year. It's depressing to think normally seeing 30 plus birds on his property is now like hunting ghosts. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  4. That's awesome congrats Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

  8. Last year I was fishing a musky tourney on waneta....about an hour left in the day I cast and for what ever reason I let go and threw a brand new rod n reel in about 12ft of mud stained water...... After throwing a tantrum like a 3yr old I grabbed an ultra lite pole and a big pike jig and after about 15 casts and dragging the bottom I pulled my gear back up....and that was the only thing I caught that day lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    Wanted Bass boat

Rochester Craigslist has what looks like a mint smokercraft for like 9800...I don't remember all the details but would be a nice fishing rig,it was posted a few days a go. Pretty sure it was a blue color Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Pa1000yard.com .....a friend with a 50 cal makes the drive a few times a year and claims it's worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Hey, I have the clam nanook which when fully extended has more room than you would think. I recently took my wife and her two sisters fishing and there was room for a heater/two jigging holes/ and two 5gal pals for extra seats. My buddy had a clam hub style tent. It without a doubt has more room. But what I'm not a fan of is you must bring chairs/sled/tent/gear/shovel. The nanook is just all contained in one and it all fits. My only complaint with the hub style is a pain to set up in the wind,if it's not anchored its flips right over and also the poles collapse back in sometimes. Then if there is snow you have to shovel the area out. Just some things to consider....the nanook takes less than a min to set up .....you'll be happy with whatever you choose As both have pros and cons Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. If we had antler restrictions the deer wouldn't starve....that's a joke ha ha...... I know a lot of guys want to model ohio for deer management and they allow feeding i don't see where it's hurt them. I personally don't do it but don't see a problem with those that do. I think if every hunting camp had a feeder deer would benefit huge in areas with no ag around....I think the big tine 30/06 would be a good choice for all year feeding Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I've used the new Hamlin hardware before..they also have a location in Hilton you could drop it off at I'm sure....I've also used Rochester mower with good results. RM got a 1960 sickle bar mower running for me that hasn't run in ten years done in a week Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Sk8man I totally agree. Power and hand both have their place. I'll give you an example on over use, at a local pond so many people use power augers no matter how thick the ice all the home owners complained to the town. End result town has a new law no parking until 8am now on that stretch of road. .........here's a tip spend your money on a lazer or niles perfect for 12" and under and it's like a hot knife through butter. 16. Two thoughts this past year I shot my buck on October 5th so what did I do beside trophy doe hunt...I fished more and got back to small game hunting . I think one buck rule would be fine and most would hunt something else to fill time. Second everyone likes Ohio's system and not to get off topic but Ohio also runs feeder and mineral stations would everyone object to that to help grow big bucks and help the population ? 18. A buddy was out on sat and they did 3 pike 8lbs and two 10lbs they were at the north end by water tower....he went two weekends prior with not even a flag Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Chas0218.....I as well friends that hunt pa....they don't see a change....now last year for my 30th bday my wife bought me a hunt at an outfitter in Ohio....there was 5 guys from pa so I asked how ARs were working....their response is why do you think we are paying to hunt Ohio....not say I'm right or your wrong but that's the response i got about ARs.......I'd like to see honest answers from wmu 3 and 4 on how AR impacted area. 20. I'm not for MANDATORY AR and here's why. 1. For the guy who hunts state land with the Orange army, any deer taken is a trophy. Why continue to hunt when in most areas in the Southern tier you get no doe permits and now you have to wait for certain number of points. Why pay $100 and not be able to shoot anything. Might as well get a SAMs club membership for that money. 2. In talking with guys from Pa. They all say instead of someone shooting a spike they shoot a 1 1/2 six point ...the deer was able to grow but was harvested way below its potential because he met the requirement. So it's a wash 3. I have a 3 friends who all started hunting in their late 20s. Two of them hunted with trophy hunters...for two years they saw plenty of little bucks but weren't allowed to shoot due not outside the ears....well they never shot and now they no longer hunt due to loss of interest. 4. I feel the tradition of hunting is lost and this is whole debate is fueled by the glamour of TV hunting shows. Where they are not hunting to put food on the table and share memories. Simply shoot for the rack and donate the venison. However uncle Ted still shoots whatever and I like that. 5.AR are like the safe act....did 7bullets instead of 8 make anyone safer......is a small six point better than a big 4pt. With all that being said I don't shoot a buck smaller than my biggest one so if my biggest buck was a 6pt I no longer shoot 4pts. I think the state has more than enough rules and if someone wants to trophy hunt do it and if someone wants to shoot whatever a trophy to them is do it. 21. No problem. Coopers usually has more bad days then good and in the summer Its like a boat merry go round that gets way over fished. Usually has 6 bass boats going in a circle all flipping plastics Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Hey by no means is it a secret. It's connected to braddocks. Take north Greece rd to the end. Before you go over the bridge there is parking on the left. If you do go cross the road to get on the ice don't go under the bridge. Then walk the creek north and your first inlet on the right leads to the pond maybe 400yrds from the bridge. When walking in stay to the right of the small channel, the middle was open a touch........the pond itself max depth in the middle is 12-15ft. From my experience the edges produce better for pike and panfish are all over. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  23. Well I hit the pond today seeing as cranberry, long and braddocks have been slow and hit or miss. Well I caught a three man limit of dink perch from noon-3. Which provided some entertainment. Not a single flag on the tip ups. Few other guys out there moving all over the pond for the panfish sorting through the dinks. I did see they had one flag but didn't land the fish........ice is decent some spots had 5in of black ice other spots had 3in white ice 2in black ice......with all that being said it would be a good spot to take the kids and not get bored. 24. Yes Matt does it as a full time job so that helps along with being the shot early in the season. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
