  1. Woody-Boat is excellent, handles like a dream in a snotty lake. Each winter I think about upgrading and think to myself, why??? Would like a hardtop but hard to fit under the bridge from Captains Cove. I added a 9.9 4stroke kicker and changed to a 5.7 after forgetting one drain plug although it tools right along now. When were up in Sodus we will get together and have a few. Are you fishing the fall LOC, if so need to team up. Nice to see your the net man for the fisherwoman. Got her hooked for life, nice reports!
  2. Thanks guys for your input, I am going to try to get reservations at the lodge, it looks pretty nice and within walking distance. Woody, how has everything been? Paul
  3. looking at fishing out of the Sodus area for the fall LOC and wanting to find some lodging that is close to a bar/grill,has dock slips or close to dock, and reasonably priced. Would like to here some recommendations We still havent determined yet where we are fishing, I like the Oak but a couple other guys think we will have better chances East. Maybe my post should have read what port to fish the fall LOC from. Thanks for any input
  4. RC, I agree with Shade also, a charter shortens the learning curve tremendously. If you still plan on going out this weekend I would still heed Shade's advice with Olcott. We had decent luck from 200-275 last week, most of the time on the water was spend right on 250 fow with West and East trolls both hitting. I am sure the Bar is happening but we had good luck at Olcott, just my .02. Attheoak.com is a very informative site Ray mentioned, I have learned a lot from there Paul
  5. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/8-6/10 Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2/16/19 Total Boated:1/14/14 Species Breakdown:Kings/Coho/Steelhead Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Came up to the Oak with a few guys from Conneticut and stayed at Captains Cove, water is still real high and couldnt dock the boat as the docks are still under water and wouldnt be able to fit under the bridge. So we fished out of the Oak on wednesday evening and then chose to trailer to Olcott each day. Wednesday evening we went 1 for 2 with a small king alot on the screen in tight but no takers. Thursday we slowly picked at them all day with 3 or 4 skippy's and the rest were teenagers. Both riggers with spoons and wire with spinnies and atomic flies all saw action with the majority out 250 fow between 35-70 down. At the end of the day we trolled in and the screen lit up at 100 fow and the rods started lighting up, so we continued until dark picking up 4-5 kings in the last hour. Friday we started where we left off Thursday evening no takers so we quickly moved out to 250 and from the chute to the powerplant picked at them again on a west and East troll with our biggest at 24.5 lbs. majority of the fish were 10-17 lbs. Spinnies along with Atomiks were the only things producing on Friday with Crazy **** and matching fly being the hot combo along with Habanero, 42nd and Gator also producing. we Never had a double all trip but picked at them continuously, weather was great for us and two of the guys have never caught a salmon before so they were stoked, especially the guy in the picture who caught the big boy. All in all a great trip with good friends and the boat had no issues so I couldnt ask for more.
  6. Thanks Kooter, and great report also! It sounds like the kings are just starting to make there way, I am seeing some Sandy reports also, nice! Was thinking about trailering for a day out to the Bar but we will see. Any links to the Condor derby? I searched it and only found previous years. I think Captains Cove has been a previous place to register,I will ask them also. Paul
  7. Thanks for the report FX. Did you get out deep at all? Not hearing much about the king bite as of yet. im sure it will be quiet with the pro-am also. We will be up next wednesday through Saturday, If anyone else is up middle of next week, we will be staying at Captains Cove and will be on ch 68. Paul
  8. Nice!!! Glad it panned out for you We were in the same boat as you, we were going to be in Olcott today through Sunday with reservations and planned on seeking some kings but the conditions are Thanks Tim for the insight and your posts which helped to make my decision. I have made several plans this spring/summer/fall so there will be many more days but I am itching for some kings!!!
  9. Thanks Tim, we plan on heading up Thursday afternoon but from the sounds of it, might be better to just cancel reservations and plan for another week. Your right,I just looked at the weather for all this week and calling for rain and East wind. I can handle the rain but that East wind
  10. What Mostly Muskies said The Johnson Silver minnow is deadly for the pike on Black lake, havent been up there in about 4 years. We hammered the Crappies also on Swedish Pimples.
  11. Any reports out of Olcott This week? We are heading up next Thursday and fishing through Sunday for Kings. I havent seen any posts all week from the Olcott area. Hopefully I will not be posting this title also(We sucked). Anybody else gonna be up around Olcott at the end of next week?
  12. First time out of Sodus Bay 2 weeks ago, we were getting boat ready at the public launch and saw a few boats going past our launch so we picked up and found the launch next to the Coast guard Station. Nice Launch and right next to the chute. Not sure if its the same one Len is talking about. Just beware of the metal post at the dock that could cause some damage. Paul
  13. Nice! Excellent group of guys on here
  14. DITTO, What Stevo said! F@#$ Yamaha!
  15. Nice report! We were also out trolling from Sodus Pt to Port bay. We had a steady pick all day going 16-20. 5 Atlantics and the rest Browns from 8lb's down to cookie cutters. Excellent first trip out of Ontario this year. Late afternoon the Lake got a little snotty especially trying to dock in Sodus at the coast guard station. All in all X-raps in blue and white/clear and a fire tiger rapala took the majority of our bites today in 5-20 fow but staying in 5 fow you were bound to have a brown hit. Gotta Love them Penn Yans!
  16. Capt Vince, If HunterAngler doesnt take the diver rods I will take the 2 Eagle Claws. Please let me know and I will PM you for payment. Paul
  17. Not sure where your at, I just see the you posted the Fingerlakes area but I had mine done and got ripped off in the Horseheads area and took it to someone else to finish. PM me if your around Horseheads and I will tell you who to steer clear of. Or anybody else in need of canvas work around Horseheads.
  18. I second that! Excellent website for repair parts, at least for Cannon,Ii cant speak for any other brands. Quick shipping! Paul
  19. Went out with another boat this AM and spent half the day messing with the boat. Started off with the kicker motor and then I trolled with the big motor and lost steering. Steering the kicker out of the canal was hard as hell so I unhooked the steering bar and started up the big motor and it just wasnt steering very well. A few hours into messing around with the steering and trolling managed 3 LL's and missed a few. Around 11 lost steering for the most part, got towed in by a buddy, thankfully he was out there. Crappy day but nice being out there. Boat temp was also spiking up and down. Tore apart my steering column and found some of the gear teeth sheared off. Lot of boats out there early, nice day to be on the lake. A few guys I talked with didnt have much luck with the fish, hit and miss. Chowder, nice meeting you out there today! Paul
  20. Sorry about the spelling errors, few to many. LOL
  21. EXCELLENT POST!!!! Think the boy is hook for life, Hell Ya! Thx for your posts the last few days, we are going out in the morning and hope to have half the luck you have had. Paul
  22. Was that the best looking duck boat you have ever seen! I was at the launch looking it over at the marina when he came in, a 25 ft aliminum duck boat loaded, never seen a duck boat look so good. He said he had been murdering the landlocks, Excellent.! Plan on going out in the AM with another boat. If anyone is out there tommorow morning I will be in a 24ft PennYan on channel 86. BTW- the Marina launch is inacessible, looked like the clute Park launch a week ago. The Clute Park launch is clean, heard they were down there this week cleaning it. Looks nice! Great Job and thx!!! Paul
