  1. Les, Hope you get "THE BAD OMEN" fixed up for next weekend's Canandaigua Derby but I do have a few suggestions: don't worry about the number 13, don't plan too far ahead and ALWAYS test something after it gets fixed, haven't you atleast learned that from all the years of my "fixing" your vehicles. Serriously, it's very concerning that there was no marine law enforcement present on the lake, apparently Seneca isn't as big a concern as Canandaigua. Glad we where there to get the 2 of you dragged in, I have had to do it a couple of times before and all I've ever asked is that person to return the favor to someone else.
  2. Retired state employees with a college degree need to have some where to use their big words, especially when they are worried about having their fishing ass handed to them this weekend by us small word fishermen. If you see him out there this weekend give him plenty of space and keep your landing nets out of sight. Good luck guys.
  3. KMART Blue Light Special, just like all my equipment
  4. I need to repeatedly remind Sk8man (he suffers from old timers disease) that 3 years ago he told me fishing in the Finger Lakes & Lake O is dead. If I hadn't tormented him with my amazing catches he would just be sitting on shore at the Sand Bar eating swordfish sandwiches with any "nice guy" he could find. He also forgets it was his son that put him onto his good fish last year, I know, he told me over and over for 2 weeks till he forgot that part to. Son of a B...., just thinking about kicking Les's butt again this year has got me pumped as well. Good Luck to everyone! Bob
  5. I have 2 wire rigs and have had good luck with dipsy's so I want to try running a couple off my outriggers so I thought braid would be a little safer (kinks) than wire with my releases. I bought one spool of the slick 8 in 50 lb test, just looking for advice from this expierenced crowd. Thanks Bob
  6. Committed, the guys nuts, good think his son learned how to fish from me!
  7. I used some Power Pro braid last year, Spiny's really like to ride on it. Has anyone used the 8 strand braids (Power Pro Slick or comparables? Are they any more flea proof? Thanks, Bob
  8. Needed to get out fishing, haven't been in a couple weeks, wanted to hammer the bows before the new rules took effect and had 2 new Akuma leadcore reels that I wanted to check out so with it raining and the Bills playing on TV I called Sk8man and There's One and we had a crew ready at 3:30 PM. Nice to be the only boat on the lake. We set up a little of everything running down the west side from the north end, Seth Green did nothing so we pulled it and put more riggers down. Caught and had hits on riggers, leadcore and little dipsy's anywhere from 25 to 80 feet down, brought 3 fish home, fish ran up to 4 lbs and we had a great time. Bob

We gave it our best shot, never even had a hit, if it wasn't for a couple tangles we could have slept out there all day, tried different colors, speed, leader lengths, depths - nothing. Bob ====================
  10. We have fished out of the north end off and on all summer, start in 100 feet and watch for fish, last weekend 250 - 300 seemed most productive. Bob
  11. Launched out of the chamber, fished south of high banks, caught a few lakers, between 3 - 5 lbs, lost 2 good ones - isn't that the way it usually happens. Suttons where hot but we got fish on NK 28's and spin doctor / fly combos as well. How did you do Kevin? Bob
  12. We ran flasher / flies for a couple of hours with no touches. Sutton spoons where made for this lake. Bob
  13. Spent the morning fishing with my son. We worked the north central part of the lake, caught 21 rainbows, 2 lakers and 1 smallmouth - size ran small but we had a blast - 2 doubles and a triple. Leadcore, wire dipsys and rigs all produced.

  15. we went out in the afternoon, didn't do anything till around 5:00 then had 4 releases and hooked a small king and a dink coho, got off around 7:30. We didn't mark anything early having started in 400', started seeing fish around 225fow but not many. Bob
  16. We will be there friday on. Good luck to everyone.
  17. We added a Subtroll last year and I don't like how far it pulls back, how big of a weight do you use with it or does any size weight make an improvement?

  19. After 25 years my faithful telescoping handle landing net is ready for social security benefits. What are the best nets made now? My old one always marred my fiberglass, is there anything better? Also, what size limits does the DEC impose on nets? Thanks, Bob
  20. We launched out of the north end, fished the west side from German Brothers to Menteth point getting hits constantly till around 11, then they shut off and we quit around noon but the 2 month old battery was too dead to start the big motor and we had a slow ride back to the launch. We ran purple / black, silver / brass and blue silver spoons with no luck on blue. We snagged a small laker just in front of his dorsal fin ad dragged him for a bit until we figured out it wasn't grass - wierd. Picked one 4 -5 lb smallie about 70', a couple more lakers and 8 or 9 rainbows up to 4 lbs. At some point during this the dipsy / spin doctor / fly out 160' screamed, my buddy who has arthritis and moves very deliberately left the drivers seat and had the rod in his hands before I had time to look up, yup he was pumped, landed a beautiful 10 lb lakes who posed for a photo and went back in the lake. Bob
  21. It started with a phone call Saturday afternoon, "Hey lets go to Canandaigua tomorrow, you in your boat and me in mine, lets see who can catch more." I got there an hour late, he has 2 small bows already. We both set up our rigs and had a blast. We each got 9, each had 2 lures snapped off, his biggest a 9 pound laker, we both got 7-8 lbs rainbows and a couple 6-7 lbs lakers, I had double screamers on at once and hooked a nice smallmouth as well. We worked 80 to 160 FOW, most fish coming 50 - 80 feet down, we called it a draw and left the water around 1:00 PM. All the fish where in excellent shape and had beautiful color. It was the best day either of us have had in August.
  22. Nice fish, observing the background in the photo I'm guessing you are in the same area we found loaded with Lakers. Lots of fun when they cooperate.
  23. We got out Saturday AM on Canandaigua north central, got into the rainbows around 9:00AM, boated 3 and lost 2 - one screamer on the leadcore. 30 to 50 feet down over 65 to 150 FOW. Picked up 1 small laker in the mix, we were of the lakes by 11:00AM. Hit north end of Seneca Sunday AM, marked lots of fish suspended but had to work to get a couple small Landlocks, working our way back we got into Lakers hanging on the bottom in 50 - 90 FOW and picked up 5 rather quickly - saved our day and our face with an infrequent fishing buddy. Then it was home to the honey do list. Hope everybody has a safe 4th next weekend.
  24. I am interested in one 47lc reel, where are you located? Bob 315-374-9302
