  1. Fished 4:30 until just after 8. Set down at 90 feet with fish on the screen but no takers. First fish 100' down over 125' 10 pound or so King. Headed north looking for a temp break, found it at 325' then it was game on. Put 3 more in the boat with the largest at just about 20 pounds. Had a couple releases with nobody home. Rigger releases cranked fairly tight too. When the big one came to the boat it got feisty and ran between the port rigger cable and fishing line on that rigger, have no idea how it didn't tangle. Now he's on the port side of the boat and decides to try and swim under the boat. Managed to get him back up and net him off the side of the boat. Whew! Hits were 50/50 paddle/fly & spoons. Paddle/fly took the biggest fish
  2. With your budget of $25 CDN ($19,250 US or so) It will be really tough to find a boat like the one you pictured. The boat pictured is a 25' boat, west coast style heavy gauge aluminum. When I was shopping this past fall I was looking for a 22' in the same style. Good 10 year old used ones were $50K & up depending on equipment/motor(s) etc. As others have said you should be able to find something in an Starcraft Islander, Crestliner Sabre, etc. Good luck with your quest.
  3. If you are going to leaved it docked look into "Shark Hide" metal protectant.

  5. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT & PICK UP 6' Planer masts. Includes mounting base which will also mount to Big Jon 4x4 base with thumb screws, included. 5 years old. Used only during spring brown season. $200 firm I live in Saratoga but have a place just outside Oswego. Can be picked up at either location. Please message here or text 518-366-4663 Thank you Rod
  6. SOLD Motor was new in Fall of 2012. Only used in the spring for Brown trout. 5 spring seasons thats it! Professionally serviced every year. Pro Kicker has electric start, power tilt, larger heavy duty gear case compared to standard motor of this size, High-Thrust 4 blade prop & alternator. XL Shaft. Motor comes with Troll Master Pro II, steering tie rod and a Uncle Norms trolling fin. This fin really does help. especially in a current. The fin can be removed and there will be no holes as its a friction fit unit. Have all original paper work. Motor has always started and ran perfect, never any issues. When the motor was shipped to me it had a slight crack in the bottom cowl. I applied some black epoxy to it and it has never been an issue, probably didn't even need to do it but wanted to be sure it wouldn't spread. Last pic shows it. Today I hooked the hose up pumped the primer ball and it started immediately. Price is $2000 I live in Saratoga but have place just outside of Oswego. I am pulling the motor off the boat later today and will be in Oswego next week. Not really looking for any trades. If you have any questions just ask. Please message through here or text 518-366-4663 Thank you for looking Rod IMG_4212.MOV
  7. Fish caught in New York State No more than two days’ legal take of nonsalable fish may be transported unless a permit is obtained from a DEC Regional Office, or the fish are frozen, processed and packaged for storage. Smelt, suckers, alewives, and blueback herring taken by dip nets (Tidal Hudson River Regulations) or angling, and suckers taken by spearing, may be transported overland by motorized vehicle for consumption purposes only. Once those species are transported away from the water body, they may not be transported back to any water body for use as bait. Salable fish may be transported in any number. Baitfish transportation regulations can be found on Baitfish Regulations.
  8. Why not just cut the plate between the 3rd & 4th rod holder and mount as 2 separate units? My boat has a raised center on the hard top as well. Its used for a wire chase for lighting, radar mount etc. So when I purchased the rocket launchers I just got 2 separate units and mounted on either side of the ridge.
  9. Thank Rick! We have been playing with leader size, whats manageable to net the fish and still get bit etc. We have settled in at 8' at this point. Good tip about matching line counter to depth, easy management. Do you have a preference in color for your shallow divers? We have been running green on one side and black on the other. Black has taken more shots but I could also contribute that to the spoon selection.
  10. So I have always (for the most part) run a typical spring brown program of sticks on planers and spoons on riggers. I have never run divers in the shallower waters for browns (inside of 40') but I have read his reports talking about running Chinook Divers just off the side of the boat. Then at the Salmon School in January he mentioned this tactic again so I bought a couple of #2 Chinook Divers. Well the last several days it was all stick bite for us with only a couple of hits on the down riggers. So today I decided to give the shallow diver a try. Ran the leader 12' off the diver & let out about 12' of line. This put the divers down about 4-5' and just off the back corners of the boat. Ran a green one on the Starboard side and a black one on port. Needless to say we had success with these today taking a few shots on both sides. Several extra fish over the rail as a result. So Thank you Rick!
  11. Get the remote "Idle/Run" Switch for your iTroll We mounted this button at the back of the boat. We use it a couple of different ways. Sometimes when netting a fish and also just as a simple speed variation to try and trigger bites. Its simple. Hit the switch and the kicker decreases RPM down to idle, hit it again and it returns to the previous setting. You can mount it almost anywhere on the boat.
  12. Get some Corrosion X and coat all your electrical connections. Best stuff going.
  13. Ok no worries...Thx! I had actually bought some in the past for my old boat & never used them. I sold them here last season. Bought a new boat and with the layout I think they will work great Thx
  14. Yes that is correct. We keep the traditional flares on the boat as well as an SOS flag. This year we have added ACR beacon as well.
  15. Was just reviewing this last night for the upcoming season. Below is taken from the New York State Boaters guide handbook. My read is that an "approved" electric distress light device is now acceptable for night time. "Most boats can meet this requirement by simply carrying three USCG approved day/night hand held flares. You may also carry any combination of three-day and three night-approved pyrotechnic de- vices. Non-pyrotechnic options include an approved electric distress light (for night) or an orange distress flag (for day). Whichever you choose, all devices must be in serviceable condition and readily accessible. For pyrotechnics, the expiration date, as printed on the de- vice, must not have lapsed. When buying pyrotechnic visual distress equipment always look for the freshest devices possible, those with at least three years of service life would be the newest." The State guidelines do not state who the device must be approved by. Maybe the Coast Guard
  16. If the rope measurement is correct and you have good tow line they should run fine. However if you want them to pull a little harder without adding a second keel you can move the back hole over a ½ inch or so. This will create more resistance on the keel. I did this before adding a second keel and it worked great.
