Sorry these pumps do not have the filter inside. I got mixed up with the evinrude ones. -
You can just unscrew the the big bolt in the center of the fuel pump and you will find the filter screen right behind the cover. that is the easy part. If you take the pump itself apart do it on a large piece of cloth. there are a few very small parts in there. like a ball and a spring. Make sure you remember exactly where everything goes. The diaphragm is very cheap , but people often end up buying a new pump. There are special tools to test fuel pressure, but I never used one. It is just easier to replace the diaphragm. They usually look deformed when you open the pump.

If neither of those tricks help your fuel pump may be under performing. There may be a tiny leak in the diaphragm or a dirty fuel filer which is in the pump.

I had the same engine and I had similar problems. It seems that these engines have a "dead " spot while accelerating. You can rev it up real slow and you will see that that your problem is very clear as you described. The engine does not get enough fuel at that rpm to properly accelerate . There are two ways to overcome the problem. the first is giving it a bit of choke as you near the trouble rpm The second is to slam the hammer down to full speed as you near the trouble spot. That often helps getting it over the bump.. Let us know if that helped

I will try to be “Devil’s Advocate” in this matter. I think that we just take it for granted that everyone should know that our fishing boats have lines out that are up to 400 feet behind the boat. Not everyone knows that. Also, being out on the water causes a certain “awareness gap” and causes the brain to go into a different place. Many years ago, when I taught my kids how to drive I told them that they should expect everybody around them to be complete idiots and that it is smarter to be wise than it is to be right. Using that attitude prevents a lot of trouble and keeps you from being upset when you should be happy

I don’t think a double axle would improve your road safety a lot. Moving some heavy equipment from the back of the boat to the front so there is more weight on the tongue will be very helpful. I haul my 19 foot Islander on a 19 foot trailer at 65 mph without any problems.

The real reason for the cable is panther covering its "rearside" They do not want to be held liable for mishaps like the kicker falling of the bracket or the bracket breaking when traveling at high speed on a bumpy road, or the kicker falling off the bracket while traveling at high speed on the water as in bass tournament racing. I'm not sure if it totally covers their rear. The idea of having a safety cable attached to boat and kicker is a good one, but it had better be a bit more robust than that funny little cable.

The west end also has a lot of browns,but the fly fishing crowds that stand shoulder to shoulder in the creeks over there, usually put a serious dent in the numbers. -

I also have the panther with the safety cable, but It said to always have the cable attached to the kicker and the bracket when on the water. The manual also says to remove the kicker from the boat when trailering. If already you want to trailer with the kicker on the bracket, make sure the thing is tied down properly so the bumping and the banging does not damage the bracket or cause the kicker to bounce off.

If it is for keeping the big ones cool, you should go for the 150 quart one. They are available for less than $100 at BJs and Costco.

I currently have 2 Islanders. A 19 footer 191 (for sale) and a 22 footer 221. I love these boats. They are easy to trailer and give you a lot of security on the water.

The Islanders and Sylvans are the same boats from the same manufactorer under a different name.

It really makes no sense to me in terms of protecting the species that the law allows the catching of fish while they take care of their spawn. Never mind the moral implications. Lots of time the bass after having been caught and released are so traumatized that they abandon their nest. It seems that the law was adjusted in order to serve the commercial interest of the tackle business.

At least on the east end it has been poor fishing to put it mildly. One of the problems was the lack of green water. It caused the fish to spread out over a large area in order to feed themselves. Now with the fresh water coming out from the creeks and rivers there will be a lot scum lines and algea growth. It will produce food concentrations and the fish will start to concentrate around the food sources. It is my opinion that this rain will improve fishing very much ,but then again, it is just my opinion.

Wildfire smoke?

In Rochester some of the smoke made it down to the surface and it was hazy looking down the road. When I woke up this morning it had rained a tiny bit and every raindrop on my car had ashes mixed in with it
