  1. casted waneta today from 7 to 2:30. one follow. half dozen other boats out, didn't see any caught. i messed this one up last week at chataqua. i caught it on a creeper. it ate the whole thing;had all the hooks in it. it swam away ok,but i put that bait in the junkpile.
  2. my 150 merc efi started runnin a little funky last week. changed the plugs and filter and gas but no help. took it to seager in canandaguia where i bought it. they said i needed two coils for $506. then they talked to mercury who gave me six new coils for nothin even though it was 5 weeks out of warranty. good for them!
  3. i fished chataqua sun thru today, all casting. tried the south end sunday and did zip. fished north end monday, got a 35 north of long point in 10fow. had a big follow there as well. got another mid 30 fish tuesday in the same area. today i caught another mid 30 and one that might have gone 40. also 3 other follows. i started in 10fow north of long point in front of the yellow "burried cable" sign and worked north, staying in 10fow. monday and tuesdays fish were on brown/brass bucktails. today's were caught on a nickle spoon. no pics today;got home and turned on the computer and it popped and banged and that's all she wrote. i'm usin wife's mini pad or whatever this is and don't know to get my photos on. good luck to all this weekend!
  4. no kidding! at least the dog's owner was willing to pay for the surgery. lucky in that respect. no medicade for dogs yet.
  5. owner didn't know...thinks it ate something at a park on the sacramento river
  6. son#1 is a vet in ca. he sent me this photo of an x-ray on a sick dog. that's a fish hook in it! $1,800 later the dog is fine.
  7. nice lookin stuff. i watched the video and think it could be a good propwash bait. like the walleye. how/where do you buy these? i'll be casting chataqua sun thru wed next week so i'll be able to post some info on what ain't workin.
  8. oh,yeah, all the fish were caught within sight of the launch.
  9. took son #4 out this morning. no tigers but the pike were on a tear 'til about 9am. we boated 7 and a bass and then they quit. kevin used a big spinnerbait and i threw a dcg.
  10. at "water wolf charters" website capt. walters has some videos of muskies hitting his baits. pretty cool stuff. the bait is interesting too. he uses a hard bait with a spoon behind it. he has videos of muskies hitting both baits. might have to try that.
  11. i only cast there. no one area really. i just stay on the deep weed edge and keep moving.
  12. i will pull a spoon in the propwash for pike when nothing else works, but i've never trolled like that. sounds like a good setup. i haven't fished kueka much. any big pike ever get caught there?
  13. it is indeed. i go there to fish for tigers but the pike fishing there has been great the past few years. i catch at least ten pike there for every muskie i get. the average pike there is twice the size of the other finger lakes.
  14. they're hungry. caught 6 pike and a tiger this morning. used 4 different baits, all worked today. still can't catch a big tiger. looks like the launch next to my hand.
  15. wife drags me to cedar point last weekend to try to kill me on the coasters. (i'd rather swallow a bucktail than ride that dragster again) i cough up 51 bucks to fish for two hours before the park opens on friday. guy anchors in 7 fow and hands out the worms. i get a gobie right away and captain ron says" crush it" and whistles real loud. fat seagull shows up and i throw the gobie to it. good clean fun.
  16. never been out that way but i'd say look for weedy bays. a spinner bait appeals to bass and pike. it's a bit early for pike in ontario bays;water is too hot. if i was going out there now i'd try for smallmouths in 20 to 30 fow with minnows. if you use worms you'll just get gobies.
  17. i've caught em in the canal behind my house in palmyra. they'll be in all the finger lakes soon. no stoppin 'em.
  18. hey deaf fisherman,e mail me your address to [email protected] and i'll mail you a couple baits that'll catch tigers at conesus.
  19. speaking of bait,if you have a pool you'll be closing it soon. once you get a few inches of rain in the cover you can keep bait in it the rest of the year. if you don't use 'em all most of them will make it to spring.
  20. smaller the better. rock bass are good too.
  21. dunno how legal but i often take a can o worms with me,catch a few sunnies or perch, and soak 'em under a bobber while i cast. i get a couple 'skies every year this way. you can catch 'em all this way if you let 'em swallow, but it's bad for the fish. i try to set the hook after 30 seconds or so and take my chances. i boat about every 5th lunge that hits the bait. one in five ain't great, but i never kill any.
  22. there are good people at chataqua marine. i broke down last year and ended up there. they could't have been more helpful. one of the guys there told me to fish suicks in front of the marina and he wasn't kiddin. i've done well in front of that place. i'm not fishin in august;i'm gettin ready for fall. doin' m and r on boat, motor, trailer, and truck. anybody check your power pro lately? that stuff gets bone white after a 1000 casts and looks like an anchor rope in the water. you better turn it around or paint it with a marker. i rented a place on grindstone island in late sept.50"or bust. i ain't gettin any younger.
