  1. i haven't been out yet but my son was there sunday.he said the launch was crazy busy. had to park the trailer on lake road. nothin but follows. i'm savin my gas money for the musky opener.
  2. that was easy,it's spoken for,thanks
  3. this is an 88 50hp merc with controls. the power head is badly siezed but the gearcase, starter, ignition, carbs are good. not so sure about the autolube. if you can use it e-mail me at [email protected] pickup in palmyra or newark
  4. sodus was THE place for pike in the 90's. it was nothing to catch 20 a day then. around the year 2000 it all went south. it has rebounded some since then, but it is still so-so. try nickle red-eyes or johnson minnows around arneys, fowlers,or charles pt.
  5. scramp,if you're catching pike it's just a matter of time before you get a tiger. having said that, all the tigers i've caught there have been from the boat launch north. never seen one in the south end. that one is on the west side in front of the big white place that says"kosakas" on the breakwall. get inside the hazard markers and there is some cabbage there. i have caught a few there. i have also caught several on the dropoff just north of the launch and a few more off stella mariss. still lookin for a big one, though, biggest i've seen is 39. i catch 'em on brown/yellow maribou spinnerbaits/bucktails with gold blades.
  6. check out esox world.com. nice web site;mostly pike in europe, some musky stuff. great photos.
  7. couple thoughts;we want more musky water from a state that's broke. maybe we need to show how we can pay for it? how about we offer to pay for a year round muskie licence for say,$250.00 on top of the regular licence? if 200 guys would buy it that's $50,000 or enough for 14,000 11" muskies from minnesota muskie farm. ten years of that in seneca lake and we have a great muskie lake in central new york. they could issue a tag to wear on your back similar to the hunter tags to make enforcement easier. how about a muskie stamp/tag similar to deer tags? $25.00 maybe to keep and tag one? just thinking,in these tough economic times to ask new york to spend money on a few muskie nuts may be a tough sell.
  8. i'll join and donate a few bucks and i'd like to go to a few meetings and meet you guys. but i do wonder if we could get anything done. the dec is trout oriented and i'm not sure if 20 esox hounds would have much clout in new york. maybe if we showed them how much we spend going to ontario, kentucky, ohio, and pa. they would consider more musky water in new york? guess we won't know if we don't try. here are my latest drunken bait creations. top one is for pulling through weeds. center model is a jig and the bottom one is a just under topwater. i have caught 2 pike on that one;other two are still to be tested.
  9. we could really use a few more musky waters in new york. but the state is broke and the dec is hung up on trout. i see your baits are getting around, way to go! i reccomend big wood musky;they have great service and give you a free shirt when you buy 5 baits.
  10. i was there on 3/14 with my canoe. there was enough water for my real boat then if the dock was in. do need some rain, though.
  11. son#4 got this pike at conesus in oct.
  12. my dog moose river start em young
  13. give some thought to a canoe. i have a cheap plastic 15' er that i've beat the heck out of for 20 years. i use a kayak paddle in mine, much easier and faster. it's no problem fishing standing up in it. i haul it in a 6' truck bed with two ratchet straps with no problems.
  14. they sell enthanol free gas at the reservation near indian falls. take exit48a,turn left, then left again on ledge road. not really handy unless you're going to buffalo or chatauqua. it's about 40 minutes past the 390 exit if you're going to conesus.
  15. i watched the dec stock them last fall. they load 'em in boats and take 'em all over. i was surprised to see them the same size 5 months later. maybe they don't grow in the winter or maybe they stocked some more since then? it was good to just get out and see some fish again. with this weather it's hard to believe the season closed today!
  16. took the canoe out for awhile today. fished around the state launch for a couple hours and had one lazy follow. then i went down to the car top launch at the south end. then i went back to the state launch where i left my paddle. once i got out i thought i was gonna kill 'em. there were pike everywhere in the shallows. i had about ten follows but no eaters. there were pike all around just laying on the bottom. gave up around 2. i checked out the inlet on the way back. there were lots of pike in the creek. in some low current areas there were a bunch of small tigers. that's one in the upper right of the last photo. they don't seemto have have grown any since last fall.
  17. i'd join and help out if i could. it's gonna be tough to get muskies stocked anywhere else in n.y. too many trout lovers around. my dad was a pike hater. he believed the pike ate all the "good fish". we lived on seneca lake for awhile and when the pike population exploded in the 60's and i was out pike fishing all the time he told me to kill 'em all and nail their heads on the back of the garage. i loved my old man but i let all the pike go. there was and old guy named jay next door who trolled kashong bay every night. every couple days he'd pick me up and take me with him. the bass all went back but if we caught a pike it got whacked and fed to his barn cats. another pike hater. they're still around. i'm all for a mi chapter in new york and will join and support it,but it will be a tough road. trout=white man's carp.
  18. wow, your paint jobs get better and better. if the sistene chapel ever needs redone the pope should call you.
  19. merry christmas indeed. personal bests to all in 2012! go bills.
  20. sucks to get old, don't it? you'll be ok. see the new dome at the ralph? go bills and merry christmas everyone.
  21. seneca for sure. lots of water and lots of food. new york could score a lot of tourism money with more musky water. at seneca there is watkins glenn and wine tours galore to entertain the wives while we fish. racino at victor is 20 minutes from geneva.
  22. i've had one for a few years so i don't need another. but i will vouch for them. hooks bounce off the webbing and once when it blew out of my boat i learned they float real good too. nice product.
  23. i had a good idea last christmas. in the past whomever i'm married to and i blow a ton of money on each other on ok gifts that really don't hit the mark. i get her jewelry and clothes she doesn't like that much and she gets me fishing equipment i can't wait to lose or break. last year i said let's shop for ourselveles. the only rule was it had to be stuff we wouldn't normally buy for ourselves. it worked out great,i got a revo toro and a big nasty and she got some emerald ring she allways wanted. this year i'm getin that new shimono reel and another big nasty. i dunno what she's getin and i don';t care. try it.
  24. nice one gert! looks to be 45/46. that's a good spot. what were you throwing?
