  4. Nice mixed bag from the Niagara River and Bar.Good shake down.
  5. Looks like you need a 10" auger more than a outboard.
  6. Great fish Paul ! How was the ice?Hoping to make it this week. Thanks for sharing ,they look like winners to me.
  7. Bloodshot ice derby going on tomorrow.lots of gills on south end out of Macks and the boat launch.I here pike fishing has been a little slow.Lots of small perch out deep, big perch have been hard to come by the last 3 years.Good luck
  8. On the EZsteer if you turn the bracket on the kicker motor the other way so it is going down the angle won't be so steep and it should work out for you.
  9. 24lb king that must have been a handful.I thought I had a walleye it didn't really make runs it just wanted to stay down. Lots of of pike bait sized perch out there.I am going to do a Perch Pike day instead of a Smelt Laker day.
  10. Check your drag. Caught with 4lb line with tip down with perch jig and minnow in 34' of water on Silver lake today.
  11. First thing I would do is price boats and motors on Ebay and craigslist. If you can find something that is going to suit your boating needs that is well in your price range that isn't a bad option.I started out with old 70s boat and motor. They served me very well.Boats and motors from that era were made quit well.If you can do most of the work yourself it is not that costly.Boat motors are like car engines 70s no problem 2000s good luck. The main thing you want to decide weather or not to keep the old boat is the transom. If the transom is solid you can probably work with it,If not I would junk it.It can be very rewarding to work on old boats. You can always put a good kicker motor on it or a good electric trolling motor or both for your reliability factor and gas savings.Working on a old boat is a great way of learning the ins and outs of boat ownership, and you know what you have.Sometimes buying something newer can be more expensive because if your not an electrical genius with a lot of specialty tools you won't be able to work on it.What ever you decide best of luck.
  12. I was out yesterday from 9 to 4 Jigging for Lakers.I went a couple points south of the boat launch in 84 ft. Caught one on a tip-up and one jigging both small about 14in. but still fun. Had 3 other hits while jigging.
  13. Glad you hooked up Deaf fisherman. You might want to get a little beefer rod and line for the trout.Them Lakers have some fight to them.I use 6 or 8lb. test line for them and a little heavier rod.If your going to keep fish a good gaff is a good investment.
  14. It doesn't have power tilt and trim but the kicker mount L&M has for sale (on this forum) is what I have and I love it.One flip of a lever push down on top of the motor the shock push it in to upright lock position and go.It sits far enough away from the boat you can manually tilt your motor if desired. My boat is pretty easy to reach the kicker from the back of the boat, maybe yours isn't.I have a 15hp on mine and the shock pushes it up and out of the water as good today as it did when I started to use it over 10 years ago.
  15. Windurn I am going to help Hank out here.It is rated up to 15hp.The travel I would guess is about12 to 16 in.It is shock assisted with a flip of a lever push down on your motor and it will pop up effortlessly. They do not make these anymore.I own one and love it.They sold for over $400 new.Probably the best axillary bracket made.
  16. I saw this article and thought it was interesting. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.h ... 5B8185F0D3.
  17. The best super bowl I ever had my friend and I were ice fishing the Bay of Quinte and his car broke down .We missed the game and were stuck there for a week.It was awesome.
  18. Well done Slimy ! You sure can ice them bows.If you ever need company count me in.Sure looks fun.I spent the day digging out the boat.I have a little chrome on my mind to.Hope to hit the Niagara up soon.
  19. Kappy I caught a nice one years ago had to be close to 5lbs.At The Bay of Quinte while walleye fishing .The guy next to me was so excited saying thats a beautiful fish. I gave it to him.He had a 12lbs walleye laying next to him and he was more excited about the Whitefish.I also caught a couple of very small ones last year on Irondequoit Bay.So I guess you can catch them around Rochester. They are kind of a rare catch out of Lake Ontario but they are in there.
