  1. Thanks salmonite...I should have been more clear on who to vote for. This thing runs through April and you can vote once a day everyday. Vote for Mike Hinkel Thank you. I appreciate it very much. http://www.nloutdoors.com/Vote.html
  2. Thanks anyway, I'll know better than to ask fellow fishermen for their help in the future
  3. While waiting on the time to get up to the big lake I got involved in a contest to win a hunt. I would appreciate any help my friends here at the LOU would be willing to give me. The link is in the Big Game room Thanks, Mike aka Shadster viewtopic.php?f=22&t=16501
  4. Hey everyone, I entered a contest to try to win a hunt. Please check out my video and vote for me...You can vote everyday through the 8th. I appreciate the support! http://www.nloutdoors.com/Vote.html
  5. Sooooooo, what's up with Wright's landing where one must ride over the curb? All these suds gore a little confused...hic!
  6. As an observer for all four Pro/Am events I found the communication between boats rather distracting. Every time the phone rings it puts the captain in second guess mode and more often than not a perfectly good program is abandoned in hopes of cashing in on the advice of the competition. Makes no sense to me why anyone would want to give away the goods. Most times it is all BS and lies anyway which in turn leads to hard feelings and strained friendships. Get off the phone and fish!
  7. Yes sir, Ron! I was treated very well and it was way more than a good time. I can't thank Jimmy enough for the opportunity. And yes, he does find the fish. I was fortunate enough to fish with him for 10 days total and can't begin to count the fish I landed. I was beginning to think they didn't like me and were trying to kill me with those kings. Especially on the 500 and 600 ft coppers that turned into 600 and 700, lol. I did 5 in a row before he and Perky felt sorry enough to give me a break! If anything I got an education second to none. Quite the experience!
  8. As the observer for the East Coast Boys I got a chance to catch some video as we fished our way to Sodus Point from Oswego.
  9. Does anyone use small spoons behind flashers? I was wondering if a lightweight flutter and pro troll would catch fish.
  10. Gee, CB, where did I say counterfeit? I didn't even mention Photoshop! I did get you to post up a couple more pics of the nice king and the pretty young lady though, didn't I? She really got a workout with that fish. Better looking than these guys, too! Thanks for sharing
  11. Nice fish...but it looks eerily out of proportion to the model????
  12. Seems everyone has a hand on your wallet, lately. The tougher the times the harder they hit you over the head.....When did your wages ever go up 75% in a years time?
  13. From what the man and woman at the pre weigh said, a 21 inch steelhead was OK to box. Confusion on my part and the captain of the boat I was on had us throw 2 of them back on Saturday?????? Captain's meeting rule reading did say 21 1/2" with no mention of it being the captain's digression as the 18 1/2 for Kings and Salmon were explained. Can someone correct it here.
  14. I'd like to thank Captain Jimmy Samia of Ace Charters and the East Coast Boys Pro fishing team for allowing me to be their observer and fishing partner for the last two weeks in the LOC Pro/Am's. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in such an exciting form of fishing with some very knowledgeable and gracious fishermen. Landing all (most) of those fish you brought to the hooks in practice was a real blast. Sharing camp, dinner and all the rest will be an experience I'll never forget. I hope that I can share the experience again in the future. I certainly got an education in what it takes to catch these great fish of the great lake. I'd also like to thank Captain Rich and the crew of the Praying Mantis for showing me a great time as the observer in the Niagra tourney. Great bunch of guys on that boat. Made me feel right at home and were most generous with their humor! Learned quite a bit here in the two days of the tournament. And then there is Captain Don and boat pilot Captain Scott of the Reel Pleasure. Their boat lost a propeller at the end of Big Fish Friday and they were forced to scramble for a replacement prop or another boat. They found a prop that fit and worked into early Saturday morning to replace it in the water. Their efforts paid off as they placed 7th in the Orleans. They kept after the prize and it paid off. Teamwork certainly showed up here. Of all of the things I have experienced on these boats emotions were at the front. I think I saw most of them as the days wore on. The quest for the prize and the passion for the fishing showed up for all of these teams through the drops and catches and finding the key to success. The fishing was tough at times and some egos were bruised, but in the end it was still... just fishing! Thanks again!
  15. I fished from 6pm until midnight on the Salmon River side and afternoon into dark at Oswego.
  16. There are those that take their job and responsibility to the extreme. Regardless, that is all they are doing. Their job. It is most unfortunate that some see it as an encroachment on their freedoms. In a perfect world you may have a reason to be miffed. Unfortunately, it is not a perfect world. I commend those who are there defending or protecting the freedoms I enjoy. If they feel the need or have a reason to pull along side or pull me over I never forget to thank them or answer with a yes, sir or yes, mam. Had everyone been doing their jobs before 9/11 we would not be in this discussion to start. Being able to "do whatever I want" is not the true meaning of freedom. Freedom is a condition in which a person is capable of achieving his or her greatest potential through clear understanding and responsible action. Any choice I make that takes away my own or others ability to think clearly or act rationally, or closes the door to a constructive opportunity, is contrary to the principle of freedom.
  17. Well, I made the trip and ended up without any walleye but I did catch a bunch of small browns and some sheepheads. Thanks for the help. I fished all the way from near Sandy Pond to Mexico point. Caught the sheeps over at Oswego. Need a lesson or better luck I guess. Maybe I should have kept them Sheepshead fish: Common names: white perch, sheepshead, gaspergou , goo, croaker, thunderpumper, crocus, silver bass, gray perch, lake drum, jewel-head, grunt, bubbler, grinder, river drum Scientific name: aplodinotus grunniens Size: Commonly reaching 1/2 pound and occasionally as large as 8 pounds. Features and benefits: Sheepshead, because of their diet, and with proper care, is an excellent eating fish; as good as, if not better than the walleye. The meat is moderately firm, mild, and sweet tasting. Meat color turns snow white when cooked. Sheephead may be used as a substitute for snapper, grouper, tilapia, pike, or halibut.
  18. Ray got it right! lol. Picked that up from a kid I worked with. He used it for everything that he thought was awesome or cool. Another word Webster will have to redefine!
  19. Would just like to say hello. I have been wanting to do more fishing on the big water for quite some time. Came across these boards and have learned quite a bit already. Looking forward to learning more. Hope to be fishing soon. Mike
  20. Thanks again Bob, What line wt. to flatline and to run off an inline planer would you suggest? I have 10# braid pp and fireline on the spools now. Is that enough? Don't want to take a knife to a gunfight.
  21. Quite profane to say the least! Liked the race to the spot!
  22. I see a lot of replies of once you catch your limit you are done. No such thing as catch and release? I am all for 3 rods.
