  1. If you fish them on bottom, run an egg(slip) sinker 3/8oz.-3/4oz. Try to use as small of a sinker as posible! Slide the sinker on the line, then tie a barrel swivel with a 18 inch leader with a high quality #2 egg hook! Hook the sawbellie just below the dorsal fin thinnly! If your fishing off a boat, Remember to leave the bail open while anchored, lay a big cleo or something on your line so the wind don't blow it around. I always put a piece of tin foil on the line at the tip of the pole. when the laker takes it, the foil runs away! For Salmon & browns run a slip knot bobber system, make sure your main line is 8-10lb until you get used to tieing slip knots to your line. They can dig into your line if there to tight. Tie the knot to whatever depth you think the fish are at, then run a bead then good size slip bobber, a #2 split shot, barrel swivel, 18 inch 6lb leader and same High quality #2 RED egg hook! Alot of fun with a 10 1/2 foot noodle rod! GOOD LUCK! Here's a little trick, put a little pink egg sac netting on the hook, when the sawbellie struggles he's dragging around a bright pink indicator around with him!
  2. They will be done spawning soon! It's late this year with the cold weather! AES with a throw net or smelting net. If where your fishing has sawbellies get there at daybreak and cast small gold trebs threw them or net them. It's a daybreak game, soon they'll be gone til next May! Bring a cooler with ice and save the dead ones for the rest of the season! A dead sawbellie in July or next April is still better than a live bass minnow! When I lived in Ithaca, Me and my buddy Travis used to freeze a minimum of 100 bags per season (15 per bag)! GOOD LUCK!
  3. Hey DD, Bill Murray is having his familly picknick next weekend in Ithaca! Maybe you can shoot up again, supposed to be seasonably cool all week. Sawbellies aren't going anywhere soon! Shane.
  4. Hey DD remember back in the 90's when you could land 30 fish from shore in one day! Those were some great times! Good to see that the shore fishing is coming back a little! Good year class of Landlocks you got too! You should have stayed at my Mom's house in Ithaca, instead of coming up here! Catch ya later!
  5. hey snagger it was 6 landlocks landed and 2 browns no lakers landed becouse u wern't their fishing for them all rods had bobbers on them . gave a guy their a dead sawbellie he landed a 7lb lakes on bottom he was so happy he must of thanked me 5 times. BOBBER DOWN!!!!!! just like the old days hope their back for good. Good to see you made it on here, theres alot of boat fishing info on here! I'm not a trolling Wizard like you are! Catch ya later, got to get ready for tomorrow, Jay's coming up!
  6. That's some cold water for this time of year. Supposed to be cold all week with T-Storms! Unbelievable! Good job on the Steelhead!
  7. J-11 I sent you a pm, I think! Not used to this forum's message system! Hey Chowder, they didn't have any down rods with egg sinkers, but when it's good usually get lakers on floats!
  8. Had some friends of mine put in a half day of shore fishing Cayuga lake on Saturday! they got 2 legal browns and 6 (4-5lb.) landlocks, but oddly no lakers! They were all caught on sawbellies and slip bobbers in 40 feet of water!
  9. Looks like a great day with the boys Billy!
  10. Anybody been fishing the park lately? Should get good if we ever get a warm snap! I haven't fished there since 04, just wondering if it's gotten anywhere close to the way it used to be in the 90's!
  11. Great area for the warm water spiecies! Nice park too!
  12. Sounds like you had a great weekend! Good job!
  13. How did you do at T-Park? If the sawbellies are in at day break, rig up a rod with 3 size 10 or 12 gold trebles with a weight on the bottom( you can use a smelt net if there in good early). Jigg up a couple dozen or so, then run a long rod, like a 10 foot noodle rod with a large slip bobber & a #2 split about a foot above the hook, set the knot at 6 feet under in AM then bring it down as the day wears on, 20 feet by noon! Set up a second rod for fishing the bottom with a 1/2 oz. egg sinker with a 18 inch or so leader! Both rods run 8lb. main line with 6lb. leader with #2 sharp egg hook & hook the sawbellies between the dorsal and the tail area! If you fish over by the swimming docks you can cast to over 60 foot of water. Used to hammer the landlocks, browns & lakers in mid to late June there in the 80's-90's, when I lived in Ithaca! GOOD LUCK NEXT TRIP! Oh forgot leave your bails open & put a pebble on the line to keep the wind from blowing it around. Also can put a little tin foil on your line at your rod tip for the bottom rod as an indicator, when the tin foil runs out-FISH ON!
  14. How did you do this past weekend SALMONITE?
  15. Nice to meet you Rocky, what's your name mean? You like fishing around rocks or do you look like Sylvester Stalone? See ya around the boards!
  16. What's up BamBam, ya I'm new to a computer, only been online 10 months, so it's all new and fun. Like anything else it will wear off! Especially if it cuts into my fishing time. This site seems to be more straight up fishing reports, not much bs! Alot of great fishing info on all the sites I've visited, see you around. Have fun on the pond on the 4th!
  17. There slamming them at the Beach on worm harnesses right now! Start at 26 feet til you drift to 8 feet, then repeat!
  18. When the time comes, I'll tell you anything you want to know! I keep a close eye on the runs. when there's east winds and you guys out there say there missing I know where they went, Don't need DSR for that! About the coho's, I think the River is so healthy right now, that theres pockets from late August threw october. Years ago there seem to be just a couple good runs in late September! The Steelhead start alot earlier too, last year they started in late August too and not skamanians! The Lakes going threw a great couple of cycles right now at the east end for every cold water spieces! Isn't it great, now if only the economy would really turn back around! Good talking to ya!
