  1. The Golden rainbow is also bred and stocked in West Virginia. They can be found wild in the Potomac River. These Pics are at Smoke Hole Caverns Resort. (Nice place we Honeymooned there last year) The ponds are privately owned but can be fished. It is a beaiutiful fish and a rare catch in the wild Congratulations!

My fourth total. We had a great time. The wife and I took my little 16 footer out on big water finally. Ran two dipsys and two riggers for the majority of the time. The first day we hit alot of fish mostly small kings around 2lbs. Some nice steelies 8-11lbs Kings upto 14 lbs. Managed a brown in 160 FOW off a wonderbread nk on a 300 copper, 4.5lbs. The highlight were the Atlantics. 4 of them 7-12lbs. The action was fast and furious most of the day. many doubles including the wife pulling a 10lb steelie and a 4lb king on the same rod. We stayed in the 140-160FOW because we found the fish were willing to play there. The current was stronger than expected but we were able to adjust and catch fish on east and west trolls throught there. No down probe so speed was read from the blowback and dipsy rods. After teasing Justin with our reports throughout the day he broke. Asking to meet us at the launch friday morning. Launched an hour late waiting for him. three of us on the tin bobber was crowded but doable. stayed with the four rod spread as it worked thursday. Not so hot in the 160 FOW The wind had picked up and the current changed making it difficult to get speed right. so we moved out. Around 220Fow We changed direction and tried a north-south troll and nailed our first for the dayJustin reeled in the nice 15lb King The biggest yet. Later the same Wonderbread Spinny and Green hammer fly took my biggest of the trip at 17lbs. We finished the day with only 9 fish but the size made up for them. With two more days of fishing ahead of us(red cross) and battling some four footers we headed in early. Great first time on my own boat Not bad for a newbie. Thanks guys for your help couldn't do it without you. p.s. I watched Yankees tweets for threedays so I knew where the fish were.LOL After catching lakers and a rainbow on Seneca this weekend I believe we took every species possible in a three day span. If you count Landlocka to be the same as Atlantics.
  3. Great fish Nick! Congratulations!! After seeing the derby fish this year. I have a feeling there are more fish like this to come. I wish I could hook up when it matters.
  4. Awesome reports. Been watching your tweets all weekend. Great job! Headed up wed night fish thurs-fri. Will be my first trip in my boat to ontario. Watch for the little grey bobber. east of port was hot? Alot of good reports from west of port last week?
  5. Can we run both using 15ft outriggers instead. Love running the dipsies, Just my first 300 copper, but don't want pull one to use the other. Would it be better straight down the shoot?
  6. I'll be with justin at sampson. I know a nice little bass spot as a backup plan.
  7. If I want to eat atlantics a take a few LL out of Seneca it is loaded and easier to catch them. I do want to thank you for supporting the ontario fishery. Anyone who puts that much effort in preserving our sport deserves our respect. I too would love to see these salmon thrive for the next generations.
  8. Great fishing! Hope that action holds up. I'll be there sometime after the 4th.
  9. It'll be great when we beat them on thier own lake. LOL That's where we will catch up.
  10. I'm sure some of you have used this service. It is the system in which you reserve or pay for camping at our NYS parks. What I am wondering is if anyone knows a way around them. That system charges a $9 fee for every reservation made. This is above and beyond the campsite cost and goes to the company not our parks. My complaint is not the amount but the percentage of what we pay that the parks don't see. $9 fee for a $21 campsite x 2 nights = $51 $9=20% of the total. For a 2 night stay After calling a local state park today and trying to get around that system, I was informed that is what they use right at the office. Even if you walk in and buy a site there is still a $2.75 fee that goes to RA. I still want to support our state parks and this won't stop me. With the talk of closing several of them this year, they could really use that extra. What are your thoughts on this??
  11. We found fish and stayed there. The same 1/2 mile stretch all morning. It was slow on the spoon program, I decided to throw the flashers at em and it picked up a bit.
  12. Them Cayuga boys got it easy. I fished four hours this morning on cayuga. My first trip there all year. Went 10/12 with two lakers over 8 lbs. Hit fish on everything I put in the water. Fish came on green monkey puke nk, purple thunder nk, watermelon nk, purple/blk/white R&R, Lemon ice spinny with yellow hm fly, Green dolphin spinny and fly, Black/ green spinny and whoopie fly. All fish weree caught over 85fow 2LL 40-50 ft down, 3 lakers 70-82 down, 5 lakers out 250-270 on the wires 2 setting No wonder they are kicking seneca's butt in the cup
  13. Musky fishing sounds dangerous maybe i'll stick to the little trout. That is a nice fish though.
  14. Fishing was tough for me too. A late concert friday kept me off the water till 9 am. and the chop wasn't easy with my litle boat and the wife driving. Fished with Nick on sunday and I agree that he is a hell of a guy and a good captain. Hope to get back out with him again sometime. Thanks Nick. Now lets hear from those cayuga boys. How's the fishing over there?
  15. I don't do much on the big O, wondering how far out is 300 FOW in that area? thanks
  16. Sounds like fun! Keep the reports coming, planning on hitting it soon. Can't wait. Never had a king in my boat. Gotta fix that.
  17. Sounds like an awesome time. Headed to the Oak in a couple weeks. Only the second time on lake O. any tips, where to go, east or west, trolling direction? Hoping to catch fish as long as I can find them. small boat and no probe makes that the hard part.
  18. Thank you to all those that serve, or have served our country. and to all thier families that back them 100%
  19. I see a few have posted results for the seneca derby but I know there are others that haven't. Wondering if we could get the whole rundown on here from anyone who placed. We caught a lot of fish but nothing over 7lbs. I know the number two laker was Steve Bocks and was taken from Justin's boat (Last Pass) 13.14 lbs is a pretty impressive fish even if it was dumb luck Thought I saw Final Flight headed to the weigh in also.
  20. Depth is hard to judge with a sinker. but if use the angle of your line to the water and how much you have out do the math and it will get you close. You may be able to find a trig chart to help out with this. I meant an inline weight like a keel sinker or a twist on (rubber core). These are usually for us guys without a leadcore or copper setup.
  21. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May he forever live in your memories.
  22. That's a beauty!! I'm also thinking high teens 16-18 lbs. Does look like an atlantic from here. Congrats on a great fish. Now where did you release her.
  23. Nice fish! My brother and I hit a nice little spot this week too. as I couldn't get any thing going on the lake. He picked up his biggest at 3.5 lbs.
  24. I don't use them at all. It may hinder a relase depending on what style or tension you use. An easier way is to add a sinker to your line. also kepps weeds off your lure. Or use deep diving sticks.
