  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:mini-slamon ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):3/27 Time on Water:12:30 Weather/Temp:sunny Wind Speed/Direction:south east Waves: flat Surface Temp: 38.4 Location: west of salmon river LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3/27 Total Boated:5 Species Breakdown:1 king, 2 atlantics 2 browns Hot Lure: r&r froggy spoons Trolling Speed: 2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 9-20 fow Lure Depth:2-4 ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS caught a pair of mature atlantic salmon yesterday!!! thats the highlight of the year for me unless i catch a bigger one!! i would have pics of all but all fish were released as ussual. its more important to release the big ones than the little ones and we caught all large fish yesterday. chose not to harm the other fish by keeping them out of the water long enough for pic. felt bad enough keepin the atlantics out of water for pics. sorry hope these do me justice. anybody that wants to rease some for later dont grab those ones by the gills. a buddy on my boat yesterday grabbed a brown by the gills so i was forced to keep him. he was a bit large for a sandwich weighing in at a touch over seven pounds. ====================
  2. little fish dont usually chase big lures and big fish will chase small lures so the smaller profile is ussually better in my opinion. i started using my hand tied single hook peanut flies and they work great on staged kings behind r&r 8 inch assasins and baby spin doctors. it was a pretty consistant producer last year.
  3. larry is the man. all the other guys do it for a career/job. larry loves to fish and figured out how to make money at it. its plain to see he has ethics for the fisheries. how many "pro anglers" will get in the water to land a fish? none. thats too much like work, unless you genuinly enjoy fishing.
  4. i use them and have no reason not to keep using them. seems lots of people use them
  5. trial and error told me about 40 ft down at 175 back at a deep setting with a spoon. i didnt like how the boards track with them. my opinion.
  6. fair haven would be nice but im told its not ready yet soo mexico it is. i wont be fishing out of my own boat or i would shout out on ch 68. next week my boat should be ready
  7. what about a world record coho? any 33 lb browns out your way??...sorry just rereading an old thread and couldnt help it.
  8. hopefully boats ready...this weekend should be hot with this being the second runoff.
  9. well i hunt pulaski and i do not call that hunting pressure if you compare it to southerntier. if your in an area where the only reason the dear move is because hundreds of people push them around...thats hunting pressure. i happen to love hunting pulaski and i see plenty of game and the best part is they move on their own scedule, not from other hunters busting them out. i love pulaski and the only thing that could make it better would be that stupid ramp at the lighthouse needs to be updated desperatly.
  10. i use shower cutain loops with an electrical aligator clip with rubber tube covering the teeth on the aligator clip. i paint them orange too so i can see them. i learned all tht from trial and error. been working for couple years now withought fail. cheap too.
  11. ive heard a few people say that they are making a comback on the east end too but short window of opportunity and not a strong enough population to target them.
  12. vigilantee...over under 12 ga/223. or wait till goose season...oh sorry officer i thought it was a goose!
  13. i think they do eat fleas and i think the smelt might be making a comeback too...
  14. im sure he is right on top of it. it is spring season and i know a few other people who have orders in there besides us fellas. everyone does the same thing we all do and want everything at the last minute in march.
  15. i dont think 10 lb is any good for inline planers on lake ontario. i tried it before and thers nothing wrong other than if you catch a brown over 15 lbs or a steelhead, they are liable to break you off whene the planer gets pulled backwards like a trashcan lid. 10 lb is great for big boards though. suffix dont break easy either so 10 lb suffix would be perfect.
  16. i used 65lb powerpro and like those stated before, its great. there is absolutly no problem with fleas compared to everything else. its just a different dive rate and you have to learn the line drop in the water trick to get the fleas off like any other mono. i like wire better though. although i disagree with the drag your thumb on the wire while setting out. new is ok but after 2 or 3 years i woulndt want to catch a loose end in the thumb while the dipsey yanks the cable. just loosten your drag, and whene your out far enough just tighten the drag enough to stop the diver from taking line while trolling.
  17. hard to say any lure cant work. ive caught walleye on a strip of black teeshirt on a bare hook and hand held fishing line before. i woulndt try and make money off it though.
  18. im sure they work but seems kinda gimmiky...bend to adjust? that works with any spoon.
  19. something to be said for a fella who takes INDIVIDUAL care of his costomers.
  20. so ive been told mexico bay WAS a good spot to go out for lake trout...and big ones. what the heck happend to them. i havent caught one yet and i even tried before. guys that have fished this lake for 20 years say that you could catch them on command in 200 fow all year long. are those days long gone? if not i could use a few tips on how to go after them. ive never caught one in lake ontario, just the finger lakes. the charter fleet in mexico bay is huge so what are you guys doing for a consistant summer fishery for your costomers? even browns are hit or miss during warm months. for me that is. are you guys finding fish inside 200 feet or is everybody forced to make the cold water run?? is it worth it to dock up at mikes or should i cut my losses and stay at oneida for the summer.
  21. home lake my friend what do you want to know??
  22. i caught some nice pike on l&s mirrolures with the steel lip. i dont think it can hurt.
  23. lol...i cant wait to pick mine out. i just thought you should know theres more coming from r&r tackle.
