  1. Can you sign up at Captain Jacks early Friday morning??? Or, do you have to do it by Thursday night? If Friday morning, what time???
  2. Yes Nick...That is way rougher than I'll do in my boat. I could do it on yours once I got done chumming
  3. Some days I get more action on a fly that is about 40" behind the paddle. Seems to change every day.
  4. Thanks! I look forward to the competition. We truly have been pretty lucky lately. I hope our luck holds out at least for this weekend
  5. Good job guys. We couldn't resist busting you guys about the swivel on the radio! [ Post made via Android ]
  6. Great job guys. It was good talking to you at the Weigh In. I was checking out your boat after and was surprised to see you guys fishing off a small boat like mine. Great job!
  7. Hey Ed. Good talking with you. We got lucky...you know how it is. We are fishing Sodus in open division. Hope to see you there. Your team shirts are awesome. My girlfriend is jealous and wants to get shirts for us. I told her OK as long as they are not pink! [ Post made via Android ]
  8. You can weigh the fish for both....but, If you want to weigh it as soon as you catch it before it loses a few ounces you gotta pull lines and head in to a weigh station. That fish weighed 30 lbs 14 oz at 7:30 am but weighed only 30 lbs 10 oz. We used it for both the LOC and the tournament. Many times 4 ounces makes a huge difference in what place you come in so you want to weigh it as soon as possible for the LOC. Nick, I have a Sub-Troll and I usually run between 2 and 2.5 on it but I always verify by looking at the down rigger wires and the diver rods. I know for sure I troll about 1 mph faster thatn Lake Trout Buffy Ray Looking forward to next weekend. You doing Big Fish Friday also? Thanks Motoman!
  9. I finally got to fish in the Open Division for the first time and must say we all had a great time. My boat is docked in Sodus so we decided to fish out of Sodus and drive to Oswego to weigh in. Turns out it was much better fishing in Sodus this weekend...lucky for us! Saturday put a nice 3 fish box of Kings together for a weight of 44.19 lbs. Thought it would be pretty good. My goal going into it was a 45 lb box on Saturday and we almost met that goal. Here is Saturdays results: Sunday started out slow with nothing until about 630 am when we get a downrigger to go. Barry (Yukonstu1) grabs the rod and it is game on! As he is fighting the fish which he says is BIG the other downrigger fires. I grab the rod and realize it is pretty small. I quickly get it to the boat and find that I have a 12" Brown on the slider and a 2 lb Laker on the bottom spoon. I immediately release both. (2 for 2 so far). As Barry continues to fight the fish our copper rod starts going nuts. My girlfriend AKA Coppergirl grabs it. I think it is Barry's fish tangled in the copper so I tell her to let it free spool. Big Mistake because it turns out it was a fish....and we lost it. Barry finally gets the fish close enough to see and he says it is a beast! I finally get a look at all I can say is WOW! He brings it to the boat like thepro he is and we net it without issue. That thing hits the deck and it was a HOG! The picture does not do it justice as this fish was by far the fattest fish I have ever seen. This fish had a bigger girth than the 77 lb sailfish I have hanging on my wall. Here is Barry with it. My scale was bouncing between 31 lbs and 33.7 lbs so we decided to run in and weigh it for the LOC. This cost us about 1 hour of prime fishing time but we thought we might have a top 3 fish and wanted to get it on the scales. We went in to Warren's and the official weight was 30 lbs 14 oz and is now in 11th place in the LOC. We got back out on the lake and reset lines. Trolled around for about 1.5 hours with nothing to show except a 21.5" steelhead. The rules for the tourney state that if we attempt to weigh in a steelhead between 21 and 21.5 inches we are penalized with loss of fish (10 points) and an additional penalty of 25 points. We threw it in the box just in case and were going to decide on that fish later. Since we wre so far from Oswego we really needed to pull lines by 10:30 and get going. At about 9:30 we still needed 2 fish and we were getting stressed. We hate to waste that big beast with nothing to back it up. Finally we get some action and landed a 5 lb steel and a 19 or so lb king. We ran to Oswego and finished 2nd on Sunday, won the overall for the weekend (although there is no prize for overall in Open Division), won big fish of the day, and won big Steelhead of the day! We were the only team to weigh a steelhead in on Sunday! Sundays results: The cash and prizes were GREAT! A-tom-mik, Dreamweaver, Shark Weights, Savant Spoon, Mad River Sports, Great Lakes Angler, Lake Ontario Outdoors, Dunkin Donuts, Outdoor News...Thanks for stepping up. All I can say is Awesome!
  10. I don't remember seeing pro teams in front of Sodus. Also, finders keepers is a pretty small boat and they did great. We were very happy with everything in the open division. We were 4th on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday and won big steel and big fish on Sunday. We took home $1300 in cash and tackle prizes and about 10 free magazine subscriptions. That was way more than we expected. [ Post made via Android ]
  11. Here is that beast we got this morning. 30 lbs 14 oz. We are just about to reel and head up to oswego for the pro am weigh in. [ Post made via Android ]
  12. I see lots of boats that size on lake Ontario. Just have to pick your day and be smart about it if weather looks sketchy. [ Post made via Android ]
  13. C'mon, get back out there. I need to know where the fish are for tomorrow morning [ Post made via Android ]
  14. Nick, Go out the chute until you hit about 100 feet. Set lines and go straight, or turn left, or turn right. All of the above seems to be working right now
  15. Jason, 4 for 5 only???? Either i am telling fish stories or my memory is better than yours. I think it was actually 4 for 7. The 4 on the dock plus the diver hit early on that tripped the diver (the one that we had to reel in to reset it), plus the hit & run on the slider that we saw, plus the one your father lost not too long after I dropped mine. Nick, all the fish were caught inside 160 FOW. Best screens were from about 80 to 125 FOW. In some cases we were getting 49 degrees at about 70 - 75 down depending where we were. Rick, Thanks! By the way....I looked at that 11 Meter Trojan Express in Geneva that we were talking about when I saw you in Wilson at the Pro Am. That is a sweet boat in really great condition....Twin Cat Diesels with really low hours. I'm not sure if I could listen to those diesels all day trolling though. Currently eyeballing a really sweet Sea Ray 330 Express.
  16. Fished with Jason (Zebedee) and his dad Terry last night out of Sodus Point and it was once again awesome. Went 4 for 6 (or 7) in just a few hours and 3 of the 4 were just brutes. Wire rods, copper rod, and riggers took hits. We of course let Jason's Dad Terry handle the Copper once it peeled out about half my backer The night ended with the Copper rod firing on a flasher fly that we let Terry pick out. He chose a Michael Jackson SD with a hand tied Forest Green fly. The fish hit, took a pile of line out and the battle was on. about 5 or 10 minutes into the battle I saw a nice hook on the screen about 5 or 10 feet above my shallowest rigger. I walk over to raise it up a little and Jason says..."did you just pop that rigger" I look at it and said NOPE. Started reeling like crazy and it was fish on for a DOUBLE. I knew it was big but I also knew that I would land this fish before Terry got the copper rod in...seeing as how he still didn't have all of the backer in yet When it was all said and done, here are the two we landed. I guess his was 21 lbs or so and mine was 26.5 lbs....a new record for my boat. Here is a pic of me with the 26.5 lb fish. When I first weighed it I thought it was closer to 28 lbs with the boat bouncing around but when we got back to the dock it went 26lbs 8oz.
  17. It was awesome! Great job and good talking to you last night. I have put more big Kings on my boat this year (So far) than I did the last 2 years combined.
  18. That is funny. And, I almost caught it! Thanks for circling around twice to get that for me!!!
  19. Congrats on that beast Kyle. You going to be out tomorrow (Tuesday) night? If so, we'll probably see you out there.
