  1. I could get an invite I would seriously fly down and visit for 2 or 3 days
  2. I think one reason that might be good for a Salmon only tournament in the East end is because if the Kings are a little light, most of the teams in the Pro Am come in and butcher the Browns. On the east end many of the Charter Captains and rec fishermen rely on the Browns when the Salmon just don't seem to be there. Then the pro am comes through and hundreds of Browns are snatched out of the few honey holes we have. If you have a multi species tourney, maybe you could limit it to max of 3 Browns?
  3. The did publish them in Lake Ontario Outdoors. page 44 http://www.epro2.com/publication/?i=125778&pre=1
  4. I'm not 100% sure I agree. My team would have won the "overall" in Oswego but there was no "overall". Maybe a plaque of some kind would have made us happy? As many of you say it is also about bragging rights As a newcomer to the tournament it would have been nice to have been recognized for winning the overall. Me and my team mates were really proud of winning the overall even though it didn't exist. We really worked hard at it and were a little disappointed to find out that there was no overall. In the end, we were pretty happy with the events and will fish them again even if there is no overall. We had a great time.
  5. Good deal Troy. You can count on the "Green Dolphin II" or whatever we name the new boat to attend. I hope you also put together a September "derby" like we talked about last September!
  6. I know everyone is saying wire and I'll chime in too. Just as Wes said, braided is great until the fleas come out then it is worthless. So many fleas will stick to it that you will have to pull your lines every 15 minutes and clean them off. Mono is great for a downrigger rod but is worthless when used with a dipsy diver for a few reasons. 1. Mono is so thick and has so much drag that you won't get your dipsies down deep enough. 2. When you ask for help and someone says "I caught the fish on a Mountain Dew Spin Doctor with a Green fly off the diver out 250" they are almost always using wire (or maybe braid). Wire will allow your diver and lure to get so much deeper than Mono it is not even close. 3. mono has so much stretch that you cannot trip the release on the diver when it is out a 150 feet or more. As far as the twilly tip goes... If you are strapped for cash you wont need one unless you accidently break off your tip or you eventually wear through the standard tip. I have a rod that I have used for at least 100 fishing trips and the standard tip is still fine. The rod is falling apart though My other wire rods do have twilly tips though. Other advise.... Watch the classifieds section and buy from guys on here. Great deals are had year round. Also, keep active on this forum and post or PM a few of the regulars to see if they have an open spot for you. Many of us would be happy to show you the ropes on our boat if we are going out. A few bucks for gas and a decent personality will get you all the fishing trips you could want. I'd be happy to take you out on Lake Ontario next year...give me a PM in the Spring if you remember.
  7. I also have the elite 5 because I fished a buddy of mine's boat and loved his fishfinder. I called to ask him what model it was and he said "elite 5". So, I bought an Elite 5. Well, after installing it I was somewhat disappointed. I checked his boat and his was an HDS 5. I was less than happy. The Elite 5 is fine but the HDS 5 picks up fish laying right on the bottom and is better in my opinion.
  8. Not sure about any of your forensics but I am pretty sure almost all of the leaves around Oneida Lake are much more Yellow and Gold than the green as shown in these pics. May be a real pic but not from Oneida Lake last weekend in my opinion. P.S. Did we have "Bluebird" skies last weekend? I thought it was pretty cloudy over the weekend.
  9. Dipsy diver setup with a small diver as well as the standard diver. Lead core won't get deep enough mid summer and on.
  10. I'm at the salmon river this weekend and the fishing is equally epic. Best I've ever seen.
  11. Not yet. Might not close deal until spring. Seems that broker is having trouble communicating with owner. [ Post made via Android ]

  15. Nick, I have room on my boat for 1 in case Teresa does not want to go. We will be at warrens about 3 o'clock and heading out if the waves are okay. [ Post made via Android ]
  16. Nick, Want me to search around town for that connector? I will be up Saturday afternoon and the rest off the weekend once the winds die down. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to sign the purchase offer for the "Green Dolphin II" I'm going to have to see if Arney's has a slip for me next year!
  17. Nice job guys! Good seeing you at the dock at Warrens. Water is pretty low in there. Is my boat still floating or is it stuck in the muck
  18. I've been to the outlet mall twice in the 13 years I have lived near it. Basss Pro on the other hand has been my downfall.
