  1. I dropped the boat off at BOE Marine on Kent Island, MD on the way home from vacation at the VA shore on July 6 for a fuel flow meter/totalizer install with the understanding that I could pick it up on July 20. We had been in touch and I was assured that the job could be done on time by Jim and his tech. The day before I was to pick it up the tech called and told me the job was not done but it would be completed by the time I got there Saturday morning. Saturday rolled around, I drove to Stevensville (a 2-1/2 hour dirve on a good day) to pick up the boat and found a sign on the door that said - I'm in the green building next door. Well - Jim was over there working on my boat. He told me the tech had not come in that day and he was working on the boat. He said if I could hang around a while he would get it done so my wife and I went to lunch and came back. Jim was off getting a hole saw he needed when we returned and when he got back I offered to help if I could. He had me help pull wires and we got the job done by around 3:30 pm. Big thanks to Jim for keeping his commitment and jumping in there and doing the job himself. As I told him - all businesses occasionally hit a bump in the road and it's how you recover that counts. Now just a quick changeover of the track system, store away the tandems and umbrellas and get out the spoons and flasher/fly combos and meat rigs, change out the rods, to modify from a striper troller to a salmon troller and we'll be ready for Lake O/Point Breeze in just 10 more days.
  2. Great report as always. Gettin' itchy to be up there. Only half a month now. Pick up the boat from BOE Marine on Saturday - they are installing a FloScan fuel flow meter on it this week. Those reports of yours really rock and I look forward to seeing what's happening the next two weekends before we get there.
  3. Great report. Keep 'em coming. I always look forward to reading your interesting and informative reports. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  4. We will be bringing Li'l Bit (aka Green Sportcraft) to The Oak for the month of August. But we spent our July 4 week at the VA shore for our last summer fling there. I started the week by driving a hook onto my left index finger. Then I had do go on an antibiotic that made my skin sensitive to the sun and got fresh sunburn every day. Then I broke my trolling motor. Then my grandson got a bad dose of seasickness. On top of that the wind blew every day. Hoping for better things when we get to Lake O. 5. My CC has a 100 qt cooler for a seat with a flip flop seat back. I bought a six rod holder at Bass Pro and mounted that on the seat back for a rocket launcher. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  6. This is our 25 Sportcraft. You do have to duck to get from the back deck to under the hardtop. Photo won't load. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  7. Sounding better. Thanks for the report. 34 days and we will be dragging our boat up the highway. Keep the reports coming. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  8. Mix and match as you please. I've got 48" traxstech tracks on each gunnel, 2 traxstech rod holders, 2 traxstech downrigger pedestals and 6 Bert's rod holders. I think the cannon and Cisco rod holders will also fit the same track. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.

  10. We had a 1998 350 mag engine and our oil pressure ran from 20 at idle to near 80 at 3600. We never ran her over 3600. We just repowered with a 2012 350 mag and the oil pressure ranges from around 14 at idle to near 80 at 3500 and even on short bursts to 4600. 11. Then when you file your 2014 tax returns, many will find they have additional taxes to pay because of the "individual mandate" for no coverage, insufficient coverage and "cadillac" plans.
  12. I've been fishing for a long time in a variety if waters ranging from rivers and streams to manmade reservoirs to natural lakes to bays and oceans. Cycles of spectacular fishing changing to times where you can't buy a fish are normal wherever you go. I'll be up to Lake O in August for a month and will either catch or not catch depending on how well I do in locating the lake's abundance. By the way. What is a downrigger? 13. I'm glad I can use BOE Marine for my electronics installs, but then I drive right by their Kent Island shop a dozen trips each summer and fall.
  14. With a Johnson it could also be a bad rectifier. If you have ever overheated, you might have smoked the rectifier. That can also cause the symptoms you describe. Unfortunately, you will probably find the rectifier is under the flywheel. It's been a long time since I changed mine, but if you find that is the problem - remember patience is a virtue.
  15. Tim, Sorry you had the trouble, but glad you kept her afloat. Bad things can happen quickly and you have to be prepared to react quickly. Good luck on the rest of your season.
  16. Capt Rick. Great report as always and our congrats for a job well done. We look forward to reading more over the next month. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  17. One thing I have learned over the years is to always check out your grounds whenever there is an electrical problem on a boat. At least 75 percent of my electrical issues have been ground related in my 30 plus years of boating. 18. Both of my boats are covered on the same policy. You can check locations of TowBoatUS on the Tow tab on the BoatUS website. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  19. I just renewed my agreement with BoatUS and the towing says it covers any boat i own, borrow or charter. I pay $125 per year and I boat I. The Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay and Lake Ontario. I needed a tow last May and the invoice was $1450. I paid nothing but the initial $125 for the towing coverage. I won't be without it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. We have a Furuno FCV585 in our Sportcraft 252 with the flush mounted Airmar thru hull. It's just one xducer with a tilted element. We had BOE Marine do ours.
  21. When we get a fish on I holler. "Kody are you going to catch that fish or play with your iPod?"
  22. I have a 1992 Johnson 100 hp OB on my saltwater boat and have never had any salt related problems with it. Bought it new and flushed with fresh water after every use. [ Post made via iPhone ]
