  1. I have the depth raider and love it. I just put new coated cable on my downrigger and I have no problems getting water temp and speed down 170ft. I did not try any farther. I only have 200ft of cable. GPS would be my next upgrade. I have the Lowrance HDS 7 with the Navionics mapping software. Its incredable. 1' contours. You can really thread the needle with depth and your riggers. Good luck
  2. Thats what I do with all my lakers as well!
  3. Great videos. Thanks for sharing1
  4. I have the HDS 7 and I absolutely love it. I have run mine at 36mph and it still reads the depths fine. It does take a little bit to catch up when the depth suddenly drops a few hundred ft at the higher speeds. I also have the Navionics platnium chip which I run on split screen. Its accurate to the foot. I highly recommend the HDS units. They just do it all. Lowrance sticks behind their units also.
  5. I'm planning on running 2 wire rods off each side this year. Its new to me but I think I understand how that works Plus I want to run copper off of the planner boards which I just tried the last time I was out for a bit and loved it. I used to run it down the chute and want to keep the chute clear. My question is when the wire/diver rods are set and I let all the copper out and use rubberband/showercurtain hook method to run my copper out to the boards. Is the copper going to hit the wire when it runs across? Does the same rule apply, outside rods must progressively be shallower as they get farther out so they clear the inside rods? Is my best bet just using inline planerboards instead so I can let more line out before the board starts pulling to the outside? Thanks for the help. Just trying to run this in my head first before I try it. Trying to avoid a rats nest if all avoidable
  6. Wow!!!!!!!!! I second that I think i got mak a trip ASAP! Great Job!! Can't wait to see the video.
  7. Great job! The weather has not been cooperating much at all.
  8. What kills me is that Sean is one of the guys who inspired me in my choice with yamaha for my kicker by having so much success with them. Yamaha can't even compromise a little and pay for parts at least. Go Mercury!
  9. Great to see you taking your daughter out. Especially in this weather. Great job!
  10. Well I figured I would give an update. I just purchased a used 15hp 4 stroke Yamaha. Got a reasonable deal. I should have the motor next week. I also bought a Garelick heavy duty 4stroke kicker bracket with the 4 spring assist lift. I believe it is a 12" lift. I do plan on taking my swim platform off until I get everything installed. Then I plan on cutting it in half or less and refininshing the wood. The swim platform as proven useful and as one person mentioned on this post it is away to get back on the boat if you fall off or just want to go for a swim I just sent an email out to EZ steer and I am hoping to get some help from them before I install the bracket and motor. I'm hoping to get some good info from them before installing. I am a little unsure how far apart I should intall the kicker from the outdrive. Thanks for the help! I will post pictures when the project is finished.
  11. Ut Oh! Sounds like another ford chevy debate. My vote cannon mag 10's h/s. I run three. 2 mag 10 h/s and 1 mag 10 l/s in the center. I bough it that way but I like the slow speed for the Depth raider probe. Just wish it had a fast retrieve. Cannon has some new models out now that look pretty sweet. I hear good things about Cannon's and Scotty's. Don't think you can go wrong with either. I run wire on mine.
  12. Awesome! Sounds like a great day on the water. I'm hoping to see you seneca Boys next week if I get everything done to my boat and see if Reel Stories are truely real stories.
  13. Thanks stoutner. I would actually love to see how your boat is all setup. I have not seen too many setups other than pictures. I'm a little more interested in seeing one with the EZsteer hooked to a mercruiser. I want to install it correct the first time around. I did buy the Garelink 4stroke mount with the 4 spring assist lift. Its rugged. I just bought a 15hp Yamaha kicker used today Standard thrust, electric start, power trim and tilt, long shaft and comes complete with controls. I'm probably going to look into the dual thrust props. They seem like they might be worth it. I should have it sometime next week. I still need to order the Ez steer and the 3 way valve to hook it up to my 61 gallon tank. Any suggestions where I should get this valve from. I'm probably going to hold off for a little while on the control king as much as I want it now but I need a few more things on my boat first.
  14. I posted this link on my facebook page! Thank you Vince! You are doing a great job!
  15. Wow I was not expecting that. That is some serious bull. I would like to see where in the warranty contract it states that about a charter boat is a one year waranty deal and not the 3 like advertised. If its not there I would be sueing Yamaha. Hope things work out soon.
  16. I just bougt a kicker and I am planning on purchasing the EZ steer as well. From my understanding of any problems with it is from being installed wrong or ordering the wrong rod length.
  17. Boat looks great! I'm in love with those big LL's. I might have to make a trip to Seneca soon! Congrads.
  18. I have yet to see one on Cayuga but I have some reliable buddies who claim to saw them in Fall creek. I have now heard since then that they have caught them on the south end and Northend and the reports Ive heard 10lb plus fish. I'm still sceptical. I spend a lot of time snorkeling Cayuga and never ran into a Walleye not that means anything. Did run into a Bowfin once That thing was 5 ft from my face probably thinking the same thing I was. WHAT the f%$# is that I'm also seeing a lot more Alligator Gar or Chain Gar? Drawing a blank.
  19. Control King does make a bracket for New and old yamahas. The reason I am choosing control king is that one of the guys who sells them is on this site and is willing to give us LOU guys a good deal from the factory. I think he quoted me 191 delivered to the door. I'm with sean on that one thought. I disconnect my batterys when not in use. Also, I did find a used Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke kicker Last night with all the bells and whistles. Anybody own one that is not a high thrust and have any feedback.
