First sit of the season for me this evening, and first sit in a few years for me during bow. Got settled in around 430. About 530 I had a doe work her way in feeding to 52 yards, but ended up working the opposite direction. About 15 minutes later I looked out into the field behind me and I could see a few deer out there, and one looked really big. Grabbed my rangefinder to get a better look, and it ended up being 3 doe and a big shooter buck. They were out 400 yards, and you could see his rack way out there. Of course they didn’t come my way, but it was the first time I have seen a wall hanger when I have been in the stand. Anyway right around 6 things come together. I look to me left and a nice doe is walking right into my set. I stopped her at what I thought was 10 yards, and left it fly. She ended up being 15 yards, and I shot right under her 🤦🏻♂️. I felt like the shot was good, but it was a clean miss. She just kept feeding out in front of me. It was a real bummer, and the first reel miss I have had since I’ve started hunting. It was nice to be in the stand though Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Fish were around every day, just have to put your time in. I do however agree it has not been stellar by any means. Most days out I only caught one fish, with a few good days mixed in. Definitely nothing like last year. I put the same number of fish on the pier as I did last year, but I had to put much more time in. Many days I went out during “perfect” conditions, and the fish just weren’t around. It does seem like they never really showed up in great numbers. My thoughts are the direct stock in 2016 and those big winds. Before we had those winds, it was pretty consistent. By consistent I mean hooking 3 to 5 an outing. But since that big wind, it has been pretty spotty. I think we will see more show up in the next couple days though. Go get em Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hey man, Doctor spoons gold plated are the best thing we have found for pike in the islands. Retrieve them with a sweep stop when bringing it in. A lot of times as the spoon flutters back down as you stop they smash it. Just get them in the standard size. We have tried all different colors, but gold plated works the best by far. Black/sliver rattletraps also work great Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hey guys, I will be spending the last week of July on Grenadier Island. Would this be an area worth bringing my Muskie gear for, or should I just save room and leave my Muskie stuff home and just bring bass stuff. Anyone that is willing to give me any info on this area would be appreciated. I don’t really need specifics. Just looking for whether or not it might be worth it. Thanks to anyone willing to give any info Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
